Vehicle Detail
1979 ORIGINAL, 9,600 MILE, 10TH ANNIVERSARY TRANS AM. The 2nd Generation 1976-1981 Trans-Am’s might be the most undervalued American collector right now. And low mile, 10th Anniversary cars are certainly a big part of this. This car is offered from a personal collection of several 2nd-gen Trans Am’s and is the “Cream of the Crop”. This 9,613 mile version is the real deal. Offered much as it left the show room on 7-7-79 delivered to Marte Pontiac in Columbus, OH. This car still has all of its original equipment, down to the original Goodyear Polysteel radial tires (Removed and stored Indoors). Documentation-wise, this T/A includes original paperwork, original window stickers, original build sheet, Original Owners Manual, Silver-vinyl glove box jacket, Original keys with center punch-outs and more. These Trans Am’s came just one way-LOADED with Pontiacs most popular one time only, options. This is surely one of the best preserved and most original 1979 Trans-Am’s you'll ever find. Outside, the car shines. Door and hatch gaps are like new, the paint itself is glossy and even. All body panels are original, excellent T-Tops and their original Fisher storage bags. Whether-stripping is in excellent condition, and the doors don’t sag or droop as they tend to do on higher mile cars. The engine compartment is clean, and the trunk still carries the original spare. The engine bay is as it left the factory, 100% original and untouched. Original belts and hoses, the original plugs, wires, cap and rotor, the original air filter on top of the original carburetor, and on and on. This car is almost exactly as it would have been had you ordered one brand new! Inside there have been NO changes. The seats are excellent, the steering wheel, door panels and center console and all other hard-to-find anniversary only pieces are extremely nice. Original carpet, floor mats & stereo 8-track. The upper dash pad is perfect with no warping or cracks. They are only Original Once! On Nov-07-17 at 18:17:03 PST, seller added the following information: To address the many questions I have received, I can offer the following additional info on the car. This is not a "flip" of a recent purchase. I have owned this car for almost 14 years, purchased in May of 2004 from a collector in Ohio. Much of the cars 9,600 miles were put on in the first year or 2 of ownership, and then it was removed from road and kept as a collector. There are very few sub-10,000 mile 10th Ann cars left, and this is one of them. I occasionally drive the car to the grocery store, or on less travelled country roads by my home. Otherwise, it is started regularly, and with few exceptions, starts on the 1st turn of the key. Idle is smooth and without effort. 3 speed TH 350 shifts smooth through all gears. The car is garage kept, under cover. Regarding mileage, I can document mileage at the time of my purchase in 2004, and back further to July, 1997. At that time 20 years ago, mileage was 8,419 as shown on recorded Ohio title. There is no rust or rusted through areas anywhere on body of this car. The T-top glass too is in excellent condition with a near-showroom mirror appearance. They fit snug and do not leak. A fresh set of Goodyear Eagle GT are mounted to the original 8” turbo rims and wheel caps. The original Goodyear Poly Steel radials were removed and stored, and will go with the car. The interior is in exceptional condition. The original rubber factory floor mats with the GM stamping are clean, pliable and in tact. Dash and shifter bezels are both unmarked and in excellent condition. The upholstery and center console is all original, unmarked and in very good condition. The dash is very straight and crack free. The Trunk area is clean and rust free. The seat belts and buzzer also work properly. The radio, 8-track, power trunk opener, speedometer, tach, and all other gauges all are in proper working condition. The Power Antenna currently does not retract. The power windows operate quickly and smoothly with no scratches in the original glass. Rear window defog, cigarette lighter, dash lights, glove box lights, trunk and hood lights, headlights (high and low), brake lights, and marker lights all work properly. Also included in the auction are these often missing components that go with the car. Original Build sheet Original Window Sticker Original Owners Manual Original Owners Manual Pouch Goodyear tire maintenance and warranty brochure Original, unused space-saver spare tire and jack Original dealer issued keys with coded knock-outs T-Top covers in excellent condition 1979 GM Maintenance Schedule 1979 GM Consumer Information pamphlet In summary, the car and its overall appearance is exactly what you would expect from a well kept 9K mile car-very close to what it was when it left the showroom. Thanks for the interest.
