Vehicle Detail

DetailsI have been the only owner of the carBrand new windshield (installed a few weeks ago, have paperwork)Turbocharger Replaced: around 80K miDrives and Runs very wellGood Battery and Brakes less than a year oldInterior is in relatively great shapeAir Conditioning works but probably needs to be rechargedNewish glow plugsI installed an aux cable connection box to the disc changer cable to play music with a monster cable connection (accessed by selecting the cd player). This has worked great for years. All weather rubber matsMy average MPG for this vehicle has been about 47 mpg for the entire life of it.This engine is an amazing engine that has hundreds of thousands of miles left in it.Remote keyfob is about 5 years old and works. Have that key and the valet key.I love this vehicle and considered putting the time into getting it into fighting shape for the next 20 years, but I have no time at all. I was trying to find a matching seat when I said it is time to part ways. This car is a reasonably low mileage TDI, and it is still an amazing car. It would be great for a homemade biodiesel adventure. There is rust on both the driver and passenger side front wheel wells and in the hatchback handle. There is a dent in the underside of the plastic molding on the rear driver's side (this was also around 15 years ago or so). You cannot really see it in the pictures, but it is there. It needs a timing belt change; it is around the time for it to occur. It also has that problem with the driver's seat starting to come apart on the left hand side. That is just from use over 17 years. The hatchback opens with the keyfob, but the remote door lock mechanism broke years ago. I heard it is easy to fix, but I did not want to take apart the hatchback door to replace it. I just used the key. The glove compartment is sealed fine, but these were notorious for breaking which it did. Closes fine and stays closed and can lock, but 1 of the hinges broke inside years ago. Finally, the electric hatchback window heater also stopped working years ago though the mirror heaters work. The vehicle is 17 years old, so it has minor scrapes and dings around. I forgot to take pictures underneath the car, but it is fine (but also shows the wear of a 17 year old vehicle driven in winters). I know less about this other stuff, but I am sure some of the other components might need some TLC since it is an older vehicle. If you ever wanted a Golf TDI with amazing fuel economy, this would be a great vehicle for you. On Jul-15-17 at 13:21:13 PDT, seller added the following information: ======== UPDATE ========== Just wanted to answer a few questions: Added new pictures of the underside of the car. Not much rust at all - forgot it was coated - so folks asking about the floorboards -Everything seems fine and I have never had a problem with the floorboards ever. The vehicle has been sitting for a little while, but I have been driving most of the auction time. This was my daily driver, but it has not been for a number of months. It has been parked in my driveway, and I have been driving it around every once in a while. People have asked if it can make a long drive. I believe so, but there are no guarantees. I drove it a few months ago about 150 miles prior to selling it as a test drive. Since I have been driving it around, I have been thinking about how great the car is. Someone is going to be very happy!Timing belt changed at 88K miles - I have the large pile of receipts for all maintenance on the car. Timing belt receipt shows timing belt only.Brakes repaired at 145K miles.Have the radio code and original manual with VW video, which I never watched. Enjoy that too!New starter at ~150K miles. On Jul-15-17 at 14:14:49 PDT, seller added the following information: ===== Update 2 ======== Timing belt change at 53K miles not 88K miles - my mistake. My notes say 80K mile belt, but I drove only a few thousand miles a year since I have been in Urbana, IL. Also, just the belt - I have been going through my receipts and will remove personal information and then give them to the new owner.
