Vehicle Detail
This old girl has been around the block a couple of times but still shines like new and runs like a watch! I could make up some story about how it’s been in my family since it was new or the guy down the street owned it for years and only had to get rid of it for health issues, but honestly, I just recently acquired it from a local credit union and I don’t know the back story on it. It had a current license plate on it so I can only assume that it was a daily driver until the bank decided they needed to get paid. The bike fired right up when I got it but the battery was weak so I installed a brand new OEM Yuassa battery with a one year warranty. Other than that, all I did was give it a bath and take it out on a few rides around town. If my 10 year old had his way, we would keep it, but there’s just no room in the garage and I’d just as soon see it go to someone who will ride it on a regular basis. Mechanical and electrical: Starts right up, runs and idles as it should. All fluid levels are where they should be. No visible signs of leaks. Brakes are good. Front tire is 80% and the rear is probably 25% All lights and electronics appear to work as they should – headlight, tail light, signals, horn, stereo, cruise, etc. I did not have a cassette tape on hand to test the player and without having a helmet intercom, I have no idea if they work but I also have no reason to believe they don’t either. Cosmetically: The paint is in very good condition and shines nicely. There are some small scrapes, scratches, etc. as would be expected. The right side fairing has a small crack (about where your knee would be) but I don’t know that it even shows up in the pictures. There is some mild oxidation on the aluminum pieces and wheels, but again, nothing out of the ordinary for a bike of this age. The seat has 3 small tears in it that look like they were repaired – the pictures should show these areas. The windshield has the typical haze or discoloration to it and some scratches in the lower left corner where a parking sticker must have been removed. You can purchase an aftermarket replacement for less than $100.00 from what I’ve seen. The left, rear turn signal lens has a dime sized hole in it. Overall, it is a very, very clean bike! I normally say the pictures make it look better than it is but in this case, they are a very good representation of the condition. What it needs: The cruise on/off button is stuck in the on position. This does not affect the cruise at all as it can still be set and cancelled with the other controls. I’m sure it’s just a matter of pulling the housing apart and cleaning it. Not knowing the history of the bike, I recommend a basic service be performed – oil and filter change, check air filter, etc. before riding it any great distances. Other than that, figure on replacing the rear tire in a couple thousand miles. I believe I’ve done my best to accurately describe the condition of the bike and the pictures give a very good overview, but if there is anything specific you would like to know about, please ask and I will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
