Vehicle Detail

1952 Dodge Powerwagon. This truck was originally rust free from Montana and the restored by Vintage Power Wagons. The truck was then little used until it landed in MI. I recently restored it with great care. It was dismantled, All parts including bed rails, fender brackets head light buckets, floor boards, etc were powder coated. The bed and the running board wood pieces were treated with Clear Penetrating Epoxy to prevent any possible rot. Wire harness was replaced with new harness produced by Vintage Wiring in Maine. You will see locking hubs on the front wheels, but the original hubs are fine and included. I drove the truck from MI to NC, about 950 miles in 3 days. Great trip :) Since then, I took the truck apart, without removing the cab. The bed had old and untreated wood and the running strips and importantly the tack welded bits between the sides of the bed and the bed itself were rotted. As you can see they have been replaced. In taking the truck apart, I either bought new (running boards and supporting brackets), or bead blasted and powder-coated everything I could. So running boards, supporting brackets, strips in bed, supporting rails for bed (cross members), head light and cab cowl lights buckets, even the red "oil lamps". then all of the wiring was stripped out so wiring is new. I ran out of space and transported the truck to a restoration place in Pine Hurst NC where they actually did the wiring and the reassembly. I did not do any work on the engine, breaks, or drive train. It does not leak per se, but it does weep a bit I guess. Nothing that in my opinion warrants repair unless you wanted to show at a concourse level show. I replaced the winch cable and the inside of the doors lined with dynamat as was the firewall under the standard cardboard treatment. I also put a heat shield under the floor board on the passenger side to help insulate that from the muffler (see picture) which is wrapped these are the only non stock bits i believe There is no question that the truck runs, stops and shifts. no synchronous gears back then so double clutch is required to downshift.
