Vehicle Detail

In an extremely weak moment, as I approached age 70, my wife somehow got me to promise that I would sell my motorcycle. I’m now 75 … and, I did mean it. But, I’ve been riding since I was 15 – and you experienced riders know that motorcycles are a very special thrill. What else can you do for 5 or 6 hours … smile the whole time … and only spend $10? Not much. Finally, though, the time has come that even I have to admit if I were to fall off my scooter at my age ... well, I likely wouldn't bounce so good any more. Over my 60-yr riding career, I have owned a lot of motorcycles: Ducati, Honda, Triumph, BSA, Yamaha, Suzuki and even a Harley V-Rod. Far-and-away, this VFR is the best. But, now its time to put my favorite scooter in the hands of someone new to enjoy and care for.Honda has been making reliable motorcycles for years. They are innovators – the VFR1200F-DCT is a perfect example. The DCT was introduced at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2009; and to the American market in 2010. The motorcycle magazine reviewers lined-up to test them – afterword, saying things like: “The V4 Honda motor produces gobs of torque – you can ride like your hair is on fire. The VFR rails confidently through turns and even at its weight can flick from side-to-side and has more ability than I have talent. Fast canyon strafing is no problem. The VFR1200F-DCT is the real deal” {Ultimate Motorcycling review}“It’s not a sport bike – it’s big enough to be comfortable. It’s not a touring bike – it’s small enough to be both agile and quick. It is Honda’s flagship for a ‘Sport-Touring’ bike. Controversial, yes. Loaded with tech. It’s a change we can believe in.” {Sport Rider review}“For our long-term 10,000 mile test, our DCT was a model of reliability. The engine ran flawlessly and used very little oil. Nothing broke, fell off, or was subject to recall. This is a great motorcycle in its own right, with a gritty, powerful engine, a pleasant ride, top-quality fit-and-finish, and excellent handling.” {Cycle World review} VFR1200F-DCT specifications are noted below for your reference:· 1237cc V-Four, fuel-injected, 4 valves p/cylinder, producing 170 horsepower @10,000 rpm, at the crankshaft with 95 ft/lbs of torque @8,750 rpm· Reviewer tests report: ¼ mile speed of 130.4 MPH; top speed of 157 MPH· To say it has a 6-speed ‘automatic’ transmission doesn’t begin to do it justice. Formula 1 and Indy Cars use ‘paddle-shifters’ exclusively. Paddle-shifting is faster – and, you keep both hands on the steering. Honda’s ‘DCT’ features a ‘Dual Clutch Transmission’ that gives you 3 shifting options:o Drive Mode (auto) – performed with the ‘forefinger paddle’; it shifts up & down according to computer algorithms that work very much like your car; convenience & economy is the Drive Mode goal. Drive mode is ideal for around town traffic when watching traffic is a higher priority than when to shift.o Sport Mode (auto) – performed with the ‘forefinger paddle’; it revs higher than Drive Mode to give you a higher level of performance.o Manual Mode – performed with the ‘thumb paddle’ you control every shift, both up & down; you can manually override Drive or Sport auto mode at any time with Manual Mode.o Note that there is no clutch lever on the handlebar; and, no foot-shift lever on the left-side of the transmission case … and, yes that takes a little while to get used to.o There is no ‘slipper clutch’ on the DCT model, as there is on the standard F model – because the DCT always matches engine and rear-wheel speed, so it doesn’t need one.· Shaft drive – to handle big torque and minimize weekly maintenance.· Brakes front: dual full-floating 320mm discs 6-piston Nissin calipers, with ‘linked’ ABS· Brakes rear: single 276mm disc with twin-piston caliper, with ‘linked’ ABS· Weight (dry): 613 lbs · Fuel tank capacity: 4.9 gallons, approx. 170 miles p/tank· Gas consumption @ 36 mpg ave.; some riders reported up to 41 mpg · Brand new Michelin Pilot Road 4 GP tires have 6/32” treado The existing front tire is a 120/70ZR/17 radial, with 3/32” remaining treado The existing rear tire is a 190/55ZR/17 radial, with 3/32” remaining tread· Single-sided swingarm· Seat height is 32.1”· Wheelbase @ 60.8”; Overall Length @ 89” This VRF1200F-DCT is handsomely fitted with numerous accessories.· Leo Vinci SBK carbon-fiber exhaust +db Killer (+$250; purchased used, but never installed on this VFR)· Tank protector (+$35)· Billet aluminum, Knight Design peg-lowering kit, 1 3/8”, for more leg room (+$130)· Battery Tender (+$35)· Full dust cover (+$30)· Owner’s Manual, Factory Shop Manual, 3 extra ignition keys (+$125)· New, 120/70ZR/17 Michelin Pilot Road 4 GP series is recommended for heavier Sport bikes (+$204; still in original wrapper, ready to install whenever needed) This motorcycle has been maintained professionally and meticulously; all services are current. Cosmetically, the VFR’s condition is immaculate … no chips, dings or dents. Mechanically, it is absolutely ready to ride. Note the mileage, 4,364 actual miles – it has averaged less than 650 miles p/year.Numerous photos are provided to help you thoroughly inspect this bike’s superior condition and arrive at a considered decision. Your bid constitutes an irrevocable contract. Unless the item(s) described in the auction are erroneously detailed or erroneously shipped -- no refunds are offered. So, we earnestly ask your understanding on our No Returns policy. All of USMM’s items are described honestly and in great detail; plus, numerous close-up photos are provided to enable the buyer to make a thorough inspection and a considered decision. Moreover, we invite and encourage you to ask questions before making your last-and-final bid. Shopping is fun. You know that; we know that. When you shop at Nordstrom’s or Saks, you expect certain “frills” – and, you recognize that you pay for them. Shoppers don’t typically go there for “deals”; or, for their everyday consumables. In order to provide extremely attractive prices to you – our pricing structure is deliberately and carefully designed to minimize your cost. Therefore, we have opted not to staff (nor build into our prices a charge) for “convenience returns”. If there is a misunderstanding that warrants a return that is USMM’s responsibility – we will handle it quickly … 100% at our expense. If, however, there is a misunderstanding that is the buyer’s responsibility – other than as noted above – all sales are non-refundable. All determinations of responsibility are at the sole discretion of USMM. FEEDBACK Doing business with a new company can sometimes make one a little nervous. However, you can feel comfortable doing business with USMM -- knowing that we have a 100% feedback rating on over 2800 transactions. Big companies seem to like to print fancy Warranties … then, water them down with lots of small-print exceptions. Whereas, on eBay, the seller’s actual performance history is right there for everyone to see … quantitatively, it says whether you just “talk the talk” or really “walk the talk”. Our well-earned history of superior performance and our passion for maintaining a perfect record is your best guarantee. We respectfully request your positive feedback on each and every purchase.
