Vehicle Detail

This is an original 1969 Triumph T150 Trident from the Hamilton Triumph Motorcycle Museum in Apache Junction, Arizona. This motorcycle was one of the first two hundred 750 cc Tridents made by Triumph in their attempt to counteract the threat to their American market from Honda’s introduction of the CB750 in 1969. Hence its low frame/engine number 169. That first production year, each Triumph dealer received one of the 200 1969 Tridents to test their acceptance by the Americans. The dealer was instructed to report back to the factory how successfully the new model was being received by the public. With its English “shoe box” fuel tank, drum brakes, oil cooler, cheese grater front hub, complex three cylinder mechanics and “ray gun” silencers, the American public’s response to the 1969 T150 was not very enthusiastic. Eventually, Triumph introduced a "beauty kit" with Bonneville style fuel tank and mufflers that helped sell Tridents to the Americans. In 1971, Triumph still manufactured the T150 but put its future firmly in the newly designed oil in frame Bonneville to counteract the Japanese large capacity bikes. Although the Trident went on for five or six more model years and a highly successful American racing career, it never became the mainstay model of the Triumph lineup that the factory desired. This T150 is all original except for the paint on the tank and side covers which has been refinished in the correct teal color. Everything else, including the "Ray Gun" silencers is as it came from the factory. The odometer shows less than 7500 original miles and this T150 can be put back in riding condition with a fluid change and battery if the buyer desires. It has a clear Washington state title and is located in Apache Junction, Arizona.Note: Feedback scores of less than 10 must have permission before purchasing. No bids from outside of the USA and Canada allowed without permission.
