Vehicle Detail
I am selling my pretty rare 1 of 289 4 speed 1972 442 w30s. The car is a really nice driving and running car. It was purchased out of Pennsylvania, where it was its whole life. It is a 72 442 bench seat 4 speed 455 x coded cutlass. Before i go any more the only slight draw back is the car was raced for many years and the original motor was scattered all over the keystone drag strip. The owner whom i bought it from bought the car in 77. then painted it then dragged it. At the time he had a friend give him a built 396 chevy and automatic trans to put in the car to keep racing for points.YES I KNOW ITS A CHEVY but the beauty of this is a true diehard olds man can build a 455 olds motor and 4speed for it while you can still drive this car. I have to say the son of a gun does run. This car when put back to original will be worth some pretty good money. I drove it last summer to a few car cruises and everybody loved it. I put a 900 dollar set of hooker ceramics on it with shorty mufflers that really keep my neighbors on there toes when i leave the barn! It also has new rubber all the way around which was 1000. This car is turn key and runs great. The car was painted in the early eighties and does have a little work in the quarters. Other than that the body is nice. The owner left the factory wing off and changed up the paint scheme a little since he was racing it. The floors, trunk etc are very nice originals. The factory interior is also nice with some minor where. There is a Hurst automatic shifter set up right on the factory 4spd tunnel. It was never cut up or was the car for that matter. He ran stock eliminator and ran 12.70s-12.80s with the car. It still has the 4spd brake pedal in the car so all you would have to do is put the clutch pedal in. IT WOULD NOT TAKE TOO MUCH TO GET THIS BACK TO ORIGINAL. The factory w-25 hood is in good shape except for a small repair by one of the hood pins on the passenger side. The bumpers are very very nice. the front windshield has a crack and the front window trim is missing. I have the headlight trim, just needs painted. So overall this is a really great w30 that just needs to be olds powered again. I love driving this car but i have 2 daughters going to college this year and they are my priority now. I can always get another car down the road. I looked for the build sheet under and behind seats but i would almost bet its still on top of the gas tank. I can end this auction at any time as the car is for sale locally. Please also be a serious bidder as these auctions cost money to list. If you have any questions feel free to ask. HAPPY BIDDING On Mar-11-17 at 09:28:00 PST, seller added the following information: After tons of questions about the paint color, stripes and the body, the previous owner painted the car paint code 48 which is sequoia green and decided to leave the stripe off because he liked it a solid color. The quarters have had some work done in the form off some fiberglass or mud in the bottoms as far as i can tell. I am no body man for sure and have owned Mopars more then Gm products. So i cant tell whats factory or not. the car deserves a full restoration some time down the road, but you can drive it and have fun with it for now. Factory w30s bring big money but i know this car will need a facelift then will be worth what it should be.That is the reason i started the auction at 2500 dollars with no reserve!!.Whom ever wins this car please dont come and pick it apart. It is a47 year old hot rod that still kicks ass!! It appears that the passenger quarter at the bottom has the most work done to it,but the car looks great on the outside and has held up well over the last 20 plus years of being redone. Thank you
