Contemporary Classics built it in 1984 in Mt. Vernon New York. It was first registered in Nevada, and then sold to its second owner in North Carolina who I purchased the vehicle from with all the original build sheets. Contemporary Classic Cobras are some of the most sought after and accurate fiberglass replicas. Later Contemporary Cobras used CCX vin numbers, from what I have found this car is an early Contemporary due to its DMV style vin (27th car built). The Contemporary Cobras used an original 427 S/C Cobra for their fiberglass molds and the frame is an exact duplicate of an original. This car uses Jaguar XKE suspension with inboard rear disk brakes and Compomotive three-piece wheels. The powertrain is a 390 FE block that has been converted into a 427 mounted to a Ford top-loader four speed. This car is very period correct, even down to the interior using Smiths gauges and the original style Lucas switches. I have been fortunate enough to drive an original 427 Cobra and this car offers a very authentic driving experience to an original.
