Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is this very nice, mechanically sorted, 1962 Chevrolet Corvair Monza 900 convertible in Polo white. Originally from California, it was owned before me by a Chevy collector in Maryland. It's an older west coast restoration that has held up nicely (some rubber trim is now showing it's age and the top has minor scuffs and cracks but is water tight and looks great from 10 feet). There is no rust to speak of and the paint and chrome is excellent. I just won a trophy with this car at one of our local car shows last month and the previous owner had garnered a few as well. It presents itself as an excellent weekend cruiser- not a #1 condition concours car, and priced accordingly. The previous owner told me that the 110 hp flat six engine with dual carbs was rebuilt (about 10,000 miles ago) and it appears that during the restoration it also had a full professional respray of the original Polo white color. The engine bay is very clean and there are no leaks. The car starts right up first time/every time and runs exceptionally well. It stops as it should, the e-brake is adjusted properly and it drives true and straight down the road. The only mechanical issue is a very occasional popping out of second gear on deceleration but it is so occasional that it hasn't bothered me. The front windshield has an older looking crack that is about 3 inches long and NOT in the drivers line of sight. It's been repaired and is not growing. Like most older classic cars that have changed hands a few times and lived in different states, actual miles on the car can't be verified. My clear Virginia title says 48,680 "actual miles". I believe the original miles on the car to be higher but am unable to verify exact mileage. The interior is quite nice and all gauges work (even the glove box light works). The only non-original part of the restoration was a newer in-dash stereo and speakers. The tires are 13 inch whitewalls with excellent tread and original Corvair spinner hubcaps. The chrome is very good all around with minor pitting that can only be seen up close. *Included with the sale: a lot of extra parts (some new), and a parts catalog I have a 14-car collection and just acquired a car I've been searching for for over 30 years. Something has to go to make room in the garage and the Corvair, as the only American car in the collection, is the odd one out. The next owner will get a truly enjoyable, reliable, head turning classic. Ultimately the pictures tell the story so I've tried to show an honest portrait of the car as it sits today. These photos were taken last week. The Corvair is garaged at my home in Earlysville, Va., a few miles from the Charlottesville airport, (about 2 hours southwest of Washington D.C and an hour west of Richmond). Fly in and drive it home. I have every confidence it could be driven safely across the country if desired. I will be happy to help load the car with the shipper of your choice. Please note that I will be traveling most of the coming week but checking messages frequently and will respond to any questions/inquiries through the Ebay email system within 24 hours. The car is also listed locally and thus this listing may be ended in the event the car is sold prior to the listing expiration. Thanks for looking.
