1996 Jaguar XJS Convertible Owned 16 yrs. Professionally Maintained, Lower Mileage, Only Driven On The Nicest Of Days, Always Garaged Want to see 214 Hi-Res Photos? Contact Chad at 330-353-1750 Owner purchased their XJS in 2000 from a local Jaguar Dealer just as they were turning in their 1992 Jaguar lease. Driven about 2500-3000 miles per year, enough mileage to keep fluids circulating. See the service records scanned in website pictures. You will see pictures of vin # on body panels as well as engine. Driven only in the nicest weather, very original. 1996 was the last year Jaguar made the “XJS”. Equipment- Mechanical: * 4.0 Liter I-6 Engine * Four Speed Auto Transmission * 4- Wheel Disc Brakes * Fully Indep. Suspension * Electronic Fuel Injection * Rack & Pinion Pwr Steering Convenience: * Security System W/ Remote * Entry & Central Locking * Tilt Steering Wheel * Fully Reclining Power Front Seats * Heated Power Door Mirrors * CFC- Free Climate Control * Power Convertible Top with Heated Glass Rear Window * 2+2 Seating * Walnut Trim Safety: * Anti lock Braking With Yaw Control * Limited Slip Differential * Energy Absorbing Front and Rear Crumple Zones * Monocoque Construction * Roadside Assistance Paint- * The paint is beautifully polished, smooth, and has a brilliant shine all the way around. It appears to all match correctly, and we didn't notice any imperfections. * No paint or body work has been done by the current owner in the last 16 years. * We only found a few light pin head size nicks on the front edge of the bumper, hood, and behind tires where they kick up onto the body. Other than that the body seems to be generally free of nicks. (see pics) * We did not see any scratches on the paint. Body- * The body is very straight and correct. * The gaps around the hood, trunk, and both doors all appear to be correct without any misalignment. (see pics) * There is one small dimple above the Jaguar emblem, on the right fender. The paint does not appear broken, and if reachable could possibly be repaired with a paint less dent removal. Magnets- * In doing random readings of all metal panels on the car, it appears that most of the paint is in the 10-14 mils range, and nothing stands out as a repaint. * Owner indicated no paint work has been done since they have owned the car. Bright Work- * The chrome that is surrounding the windshield, outside mirrors, door handles, head light covers, and upper bumper sections look like that of a car 1 to 2 years old. * We did not see any pits, or damage with the exception of a few hair line light scratches on the gas filler. Glass- * All side glass as well as the windshield, and the rear glass are all branded with the Triplex Emblem. * The glass is all very clear, and shows almost no wear. * We did not see any cracks, wiper wear, scratching, or discoloring. * There are a few pin head size nicks on the windshield as well as one star that was repaired about mid way in the windshield and 8-10 inches up from the bottom. Not in the view of anyone, and almost unnoticeable. * The windshield was replaced by current owner. Top- * The top appears to be original, and shows very little wear. * It appears to be in good condition, though slightly dirty and could use a light cleaning. * We did not see any damage in material itself. * We did not find any stitching that was loose, or in need of repair. * The pictures where taken only a few minutes after the top was put up. After top is up for a while, some of the creases will lesson. (see pics) Interior- * The interior appears to be all original. * The coloring is very even and has held up well, and appears to have had very little exposure. * The headliner is following up and down with the top correctly. * The door panels, dash, controls, carpet, gauges, all show very minimal amounts of wear. As does the wooden parts of the steering wheel, and the gear shift knob. * The seat leather is showing some light drying, and cracking. More so on the front side of the drivers seat. * The sun-visors are all intact with a little discoloring on the top sides, but very minimal. Trunk- * You will notice the spare tire and wheel are correct as well as the battery fit. * There is a disc changer mounted on the left side. * The trunk contains the owners manual, books, carrying case for the radio head, and cassette deck cleaning unit. * The black vinyl cover stores the convertible boot cover inside. Tires and Wheels- * Tires- Michelin Pilot * While we don't have the exact age of the tires, we did not find any front side exterior cracking. * We didn't find any damage to the finish on the wheels or the tires. The center emblem, and the lugs are in equally nice condition. * Left Front- 225/60/16 5-6/32 Tread remaining * Right Front- 225/60/16 5-6/32 Tread remaining * Left Rear- 225/60/16 5-6/32 Tread remaining * Right Rear- 225/60/16 5-6/32 Tread remaining Engine and Transmission- * Everything looks to be original, or with the correct replacement of maintenance items. Nothing is standing out as being modified from the way it was originally built to be. Chassis- * The underside appears to be very original, and does not show signs of exposure. The owner indicated the car is typically never caught in the rain. * No signs of damage to the bottom side. (see pics) * The supports and floor appear free of any rust perforation and hardly shows any surface rust on the bottom side. * There is a slight amount of oil dampness around the lower engine, and transmission. It all appears to be normal seepage that you would expect to see on a similar car. Nothing appears to be excessive. * You will notice dampness below the power top hydraulic system located on both sides, and dampness below the hydraulic pump as well. That is because in 2015 the owners had the cylinders replaced because of an oil leak. Test Drive- Chad rode several miles with the owner, and then Chad drove the car several miles back. The car drove very tight and smooth. You can tell the car has been cared for, and used sparingly. The car started, and immediately ran very smooth and quiet. The car steered very smooth to the left and right, and did not pull one way or the other. It drove nice and straight down the road. The brakes stopped correctly, smoothly, straight, and I did not feel any pulsation. The transmission up shifted and down shifted automatically, and smoothly without any noticeable problems. It would be my guess that the drive-train is operating as is was designed, and without any malfunction. Mechanical- Chad tested the following himself * Engine idles so smooth, you couldn't feel any vibration. Car did not appear to have any incorrect noises at all. * Low and High headlight beams work * Parking lights work * Left blinkers work front and rear * Right blinkers work front and rear * Did not have chance to try cruise control- owner said cruise doesn't work correctly * Horn works * Four way flashers work front and back, left and right * Windshield wipers work on low and high speed * Delay on windshield wipers work * Clock is running * Switches work for interior lights * A/C cools but needs more freon (owner is taking care of this) * Power mirrors work in all four directions (left and right side) * Emergency brake works and holds correctly * Lights on visors work * Power roof works up and down * All 4 power windows operate up and down * Cigarette lighter works * 6 way seats appear to work correctly * Disc player works * AM/FM works * Cassette player works * Power seats go back and forth * Power recliner works * Battery was replaced in 2015 * New Windshield * Mechanical Maintenance (see photos of records) * Tag on engine shows last 6 digit of serial number * Memory seat function may not work
