Vehicle Detail
If you have a P38 Rover or want a fun project here is a fantastic vehicle. Check out my other auctions for a number of Diagnostic Tools for this vehicle. If you have a 1959 to 1963 VW Ragtop-open to trades too!!THIS IS A PARTS OR RESTORATION PROJECT- YOU WILL HAVE TO TOW IT! NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ARE TO BE. EXPECTED. Please read the following for a very CLEAR picture of the vehicle. All the records go with the vehicle and all the loose parts, new parts and used parts. I will only email people and will not respond to any emails that ask any of the information I provided. I spent a good deal of time writing all this down- please read it and then ask away. I am going to buy a VW and need this off my plate first. The vehicle sat and the battery died, A BRAND new battery is in the vehicle. You will have to either being wheel jacks- the vehicle is in lock down mode and the wheels are locked. You can bypass this but this will be up to you when you tow the vehicle. The vehicle ran beautifully before I purchased the new truck- just didn't have heat. I purchased it from a client- I have all the service tickets from his ownership. He used the dealer to get most of the work done. I am the 3rd owner and have all the books and tools that came with the car from the factory. Here is all that I have done to it: 11-16-14-115,690 miles Major Service -Plugs and wires -Fuel Filter -Air Filter-replaced with a K&N unit -Cabin Filters -Replaced all fluids-ALL -Throttle body service Trans Service -New Filter -New gasket and fluid Diff Service -Replaced all the diff fluid-front and rear -New diff plugs installed Transfer case service -Replaced fluid Replaced the Serpentine belt -Replaced the Belt pulley Replaced the PCV hose system Replaced Fan relay Replaced all the wiper blades to include the headlamp Replaced the Rear view mirror with a used unit- it was starting to delaminate 4-22-2015-121,600 miles New tires 255/55r18 Got them off Craigslist from a guy who took them off an Acura or something- they were BRAND NEW- still had the little tits on the tread- big time score. 10-24-15-123,448 miles Oil and Filter Service -5w30 full synthetic Checked tire pressure Full suspension lube Top off Coolant -This is when I noticed the heater core starting to leak in the cabin ABS Light activated SRS Light Activated Cabin fan intermittent Purchased the Rover specific code reader-$350.00 SRS specific adapter for code reader-$150.00 Purchased sync mate- $250.00 Cleared codes 10-30-2015-123,502 miles Re-visited the SRS and fan issue. Traced fan operation to the Fuse panel- Replaced the main fuse box in the engine bay. RL6 and RL7 burnt- common P38 issue. Replaced the SRS- brain-common P38 issue. -Replaced with used unit and cleared codes. 11-1-2015 No Ac- replaced the o-rings at compressor. Charged system System is still in-op and leaks. Windows down solved issue. 11-14-2015 Replaced Valve cover gaskets and plenum gasket. Mass Air flow sensor service. Throttle body service. Cleaned coil packs-dielectric grease used. Noticed the Oil cooler line seeping at block-ordered part. Power steering lines seeping. Replaced the right wheel bearing with a used unit- cost me fucking $650.00 at a shop when I was getting it inspected, was told it was going to be $200.00. . .. . .very bitter, STILL. 02-2016 Replaced the battery with new. Replaced the heater core-balls job -This will have to be revisited, they sent the wrong fucking o-rings and the bitch leaked. This was the final straw. . ... I am sure I have forgotten shit, but these are all the big ticket items. If I remove any electrical connections, I always blow them off and use dielectric grease before I re-connect, shit like that. The cosmetics: Exterior- The exterior is in good condition- it waxes up nicely and shows well. I was never embarrassed to go to a client's house. I like my vehicles to look nice, so I am kinda picky so here are the things I noticed. There are now two spots of rust starting on the two of the doors leading edge-more cosmetic at this point. There is I think 1 door ding on it. There is a spot on the lift gate that the previous owner removed an oval sticker off and did not do a great job- left some Nicks in the paint but. . .. There is a spot on the left rear bumper-? -the plastic has a small dent and tear. A little back to black and it looks fantastic- no issue. The rims need to be refinished- no getting around that- they are decent at best and was on my list. The Interior- The leather is in great shape- no tears or rips, the driver's seat, the foam is a bit worn on the left side bottom bolster. The head liner has been replaced and looks nice. The sunroof liner however. . .they did a shitty job and the visible leading edge is crap and has always bothered me. I was going to fix this but it will require you remove a ton of shit to get to it. I kept it closed, hahaha. The "A","B", "C" pillars have had all the fuzz removed- it had this fuzzy crap on it. . .I removed it. No cracks in the dash. The door panels on the older units had a fabric trim insert- they are all shitty but the truck comes with a new set of door cards from a newer model and they are all leather. I just lost the time to install-it took me months to find a good set-they will go with the truck. The carpets are in good shape- you will have to clean them, the passenger side was soaked with antifreeze when the heater core took a shit. All the plastic bits are fucking brittle and or busted. I have had to use painted black washer to put it all back together- someone else was in it prior to me and fucked shit all up. So a little patience will be needed or replace the busted parts with shit off eBay- that was my plan. The Pros: Tons of new parts and money spent. All Services up to date. Newer tires. The EAS-air bag suspension system has been converted to springs- expensive upgrade. It looks good and the interior isn't all trashed out. Once it runs, it runs and shifts great. It has never overheated. New Floor mats New Battery New Water pump-not installed New Oil Cooler line-not installed New Thermostat-not installed $ very nice Door cards in leather-not installed The cons: The vehicle is in lock out mode and only the Drivers door opens. It will give you a "key lock out" message. I have tried to reset it a number of time so that I can clean it out and put it back together- no luck. I traced it to a sync issue between the security and the BCM. I am done with it and have stopped fucking with it. The entire lower dash and center console are tore out. I had to take the entire fucking thing apart to fix the SRS, the Heater core and the fans. I have all the parts- have fun figuring it all out. The drives front tire likes to leak at the rim- it's not a tire issue. The brakes rotors will have to be cleaned from sitting. I will have to un-lock the wheels to be able to be pushed- it has a no tow lock out deal- it's a fuse removal to circumvent the electric 4 wheel drive. The power steering lines- the factory clamps are toast and they leak. I was going to remove the old clamps, trim the lines and put new clamps on it. The rear exhaust pipe has a hinky fix on it. The pipe busted off- it came loose and I fucked with it a bit in the 10 degree weather. . .not my best work but it was a quick solution. It does appear this can be fixed with a pipe stretcher and a new clamp- I didn't bother. The oil cooler line off the bottom of the block seeps. - Part to replace is included. Ac is in op- there is a leak?? Or the compressor. The cruise is in op- I replaced the vacuum lines so it's a switch or the cruise unit.
