Vehicle Detail
1973 Honda CB450R Custom Cafe Racer You are bidding on a fully rebuilt and customized Honda CB450 cafe racer. Clean and clear title in my name ready to sign off to whomever wins. There is no reserve price but I already know how ebay works, many times the winner doesn't pay and backs out so I'll relist accordingly. Feel free to shoot me any and all questions, this is a custom build so there is no such thing as a stupid question; ask away. On to the details: Motor: The engine was completely taken apart and cleaned. New gaskets and seals all around. The cylinders were professionally machined to accept new NOS Honda .25mm over pistons and piston rings, which pretty much means you are getting a BRAND NEW motor. Valves were lapped, reseated and sealed with Honda valve seals, not the aftermarket seals. Brand new cam chain was installed. It has about 100 miles on it from me breaking it in. This is a 5 speed transmission motor. Carburetors were ultrasonically cleaned, soda blasted, then rebuilt with all new Honda gaskets and o-rings. Brand new pod filters. Headers are OEM, they were sandblasted and painted flat black to match the flat black, brand new mufflers. The Exhaust flanges were de-finned for a smoother and unique finish, then painted flat black (they are pictured in bare metal, before they were painted). The covers around the motor were polished; the cases, cylinders and head remain the natural aluminum satin finish. Frame: The rear of the frame was chopped and a new cafe loop was welded in, properly equipped with machined plugs inside of the steel tubing to ensure structural stability. The tabs that used to hold the side covers were grinded off, filed, and sanded down for a clean finish. Frame painted semi gloss black. Brand new brass bushings were installed into the swing arm which should last much longer than the stock application. Suspension: Rear shock absorbers are brand new. Front suspension was rebuilt and fork lowers were painted black. Brand new fork boots/gaiters were thrown on. Wheels: Both rims were sand blasted before being painted metallic gold. Brand New tubes and tires on both. Brakes: Front disc rotor was drilled on a mill and each hole was counter sunk on both sides for a professional finish. Caliper painted black. A remote master cylinder that is cable driven is hidden under the gas tank to keep the handle bar nice and clean. Given the bike's weight, it stops very well! Obviously its not a modern sports bike but you'd be surprised how well it brakes when compared to just about anything from before the late 80's. Body: Gas tank is painted white with a gold stripe down the middle then clear coated. The front cafe racer style fairing has the same treatment. There is NO speedometer nor tachometer. The seat is 100% custom made; aluminum seat pan with hand shaped foam wrapped in black vinyl with gold stitching. It is removable WITHOUT any tools by being held on with 6 thumbscrews. The original tool box is still equipped as it looked good and is useful for most; it is empty but good for your own tools or paperwork. Front and rear fenders were removed. There are also no mirrors. Electrical: Wiring is custom and minimal. The smallest functioning regular/rectifier is installed under the tank along the top neck of the frame. Just about 90% of wiring is right under the tank along with a small 4 cell Anti-gravity Battery. To make this possible WITHOUT modifying the bottom of the gas tank, I made custom tabs to relocate the coils. The only indicator light is a LED neutral light that is built into the left handlebar lever perch. The right side is equipped with the starter button. In all, this bike has one indicator light, one button and one switch (headlight); very minimal. Lights: Headlight is OEM but has an On/Off switch built into the bucket. Tail lights are two LED strips wrapped around the top of the rear shock absorbers. With that the rear of the frame is clean with no lights or any other distracting details. There are NO turn signals on this bike. Misc: On a small section of the lip around the edge of the gas tank directly underneath the top triple clamp there are a small paint chips from the tank hitting the top triple upon removal. I will touch it up accordingly but I though you should know and also know that it is very minimal. The starting procedure given the air filters, exhaust set up, and stock jets is as follows: once the gas is open, initiate the choke, give it a little throttle and hit the start button. She'll come to life and within a few seconds open the choke while still holding the throttle open just a bit. Within 30-60 sections she'll be warm enough to idle and you can let go of the throttle while she continues to reach a good operating temperature. There is a custom made license plate bracket off the axle. The winner will be able to just put gas in her, throw on a license plate and ride. Plain and simple. I'm an apprentice at a Motorcycle Shop and this was my winter build. I believe I covered all the details. Please ask any questions.
