Vehicle Detail
This minivan is in great mechanical condition. It's been well taken care of, and the Honda regular maintenance has been faithfully observed. Only Castrol GTX oil has ever been used. Also, only genuine Honda oil filters, coolant, brake fluid, air filters, cabin filters, and transmission fluid has ever been used. As for accessories, it has interior carpets, the Honda rubber mat at the rear, a roof rack and crossbars, plus mudflaps and the Honda alarm system. And it has both a cassette tape *and* a CD system. This is the better edition, EX, with homelink, fog lights, and many other amenities. The electric recline for the driver's seat stopped working 7 years ago (I didn't even notice this for a year since I didn't find it useful), and the only other thing I can think of that doesn't work is the (remote) radio channel and volume change on the steering wheel (which aren't even available on the LX). No one has ever smoked in it. I bought this Odyssey new in 2000 and we've driven it to Canada, Pittsburgh, and Virginia a few times, and I've used it for starparties. Average mileage has been less than 5,000 miles/year. We've been so happy with this Odyssey that we bought a new one last year, and we really don't need this one any longer. There's only ever been one collision (in May, 2001), where a deer ran into the left front door. The repair cost $690.17 and was beautifully completed by Collex. Nothing functional was damaged, and it's still impossible to discern that it ever happened (it was so insignificant, even CarFax doesn't report this). Everything is up to date... a new timing belt and water pump were installed at 50,545 miles (on 4/2/2011... due at 10 years or 100,000 miles). New front rotors and pads were installed at 66,790 miles (9/1/2014), and the most recent brake fluid flush was completed at that time. The Interstate battery was installed 1/2014. And all spark plugs were replaced at that time, so this van will never be due for new spark plugs again. The status (thickness) of the brake material is currently as follows (new rotors were installed in 2014): Rear shoes 4mm (5/32 in.) Front pads 10mm (7/16 in.) Tires were new in February 2014. Depth measurements are currently (*above* cross markers) as follows: Front left 4/32" Front right 4/32" Rear left 5/32" Rear right 6/32" As you can see, these are all maintenance items, and are fully up to date. This minivan never broke down, and has been extremely reliable. Using an Innova 3140b scanner, no DTCs are shown to be set. No permanent, and no temporary DTCs are set. The last time there was a DTC was on 1/20/2013 for which the EGR valve was replaced and the code went away. The only thing outstanding is a crack along the length and near the bottom of the windshield (which won't cause it to fail inspection in at least 30 states). But a new windshield should be considered (see photos). The spare wheel was used just once for 5 miles (for the one and only puncture), and I immediately bought new tires at that time ;-). On Mar-28-16 at 11:00:33 PDT, seller added the following information: I haven't been able to switch or add images, so maybe this'll work, links to two photos from last week when I had wheels off to check the brakes:... Okay, no good. It didn't work, even though it said the update was successful.Maybe you have to be creative. If you take the imgur link as "i.imgur" to start with, then add dot (that's a period, not "dot") and "com" and then add a forward slash (the one under the ?) and finally, this:DKiEI0I.jpgAnd for the second photo, do the same for this:RgfTiNW.jpgOn Apr-01-16 at 05:47:25 PDT, seller added the following information: Someone asked about the underneath of the car, so I managed to take some photos, but they're impossible to add with links, so you have to do the same as before. Add .jpg after each and the imgur url and then put them in the browser: BaGr7EY ID1FFCW f2dSDui sHnPn3E 2nSOgHj jUUY45t j6SLd4W m9NrLw1 CHwY1Nt qvzKwV0 ckMGzeQ AeEqMmX 6ZbNpCx Mdf3ZBE Let me know if you'd like me to send these photos directly, or if you can't find a teenager to put these together, above. And the other issue was the air conditioning. So I tested the operation at 1,500 rpm. Mind you, it's hardly surprising the air came out of the dashboard at 34 degrees F, since the garage temperature was 62 degrees F as I did this. The pressure measurement at the high side was 210psi at the highest, and on the low side, it went as low as 50psi. I'm sure those are good figures. The important thing, is the A/C is fine, and never gave a problem. Like I say, all the windows work fine, the doors close and open normally. The only thing I could find wrong was the driver seat recline motor (as described at the start) and the (remote) volume/channel buttons on the steering wheel (also mentioned at the start). Fit and finish is fine, all locks, handles, etc. function. Ask me if you think I've missed anything. And the rear cargo security cover is included. Also a custom made windshield sunscreen (fits perfectly). What else to mention. Maybe I said how the electric doors weren't right when the minivan was a year old, and Honda must've done a good repair, since they never failed since. Ah, yes, one issue sometimes you'll read on the Web is about a thump when you go into reverse with an Odyssey, but this was also fixed (the rear engine mounting was changed). This minivan runs very smoothly and reliably. We'll miss it.
