Vehicle Detail
1961 Ford ThunderbirdAlso known as the "Bullet Bird", the 1961 TBird body style was built from 1961 to 1963. Technical highlights include Dearborn's FE V-8 enlarged 390 cubic inch FE (Ford Edsel) powerplant in ’61. A Thunderbird convertible paced the Indianapolis 500 in 1961. Ford produced 62,535 2-Door Hardtop Coupes in 1961.My listing is for a vehicle condition that is better than fair and less than good as described by Hagerty current values below. The car is in good working order, looks good, and has a current Virginia State inspection. This is an air conditioning equipped car where everything is factory original installed; it has not been a priority to hook up the drive belt and check to see if it works. I will include four cans of R-12 refrigerant to the new owner. It only takes 2 cans to charge it.I am offering this vehicle at a reserve closer to the Fair value than the Good value with a Buy It Now price in case someone wants to grab it before it slips away. Like I stated above, this vehicle if a Fair+ or Good- using the Hagarty descriptions as my guide.I insure my classic vehicles with Hagerty and here is what they say about the current value of this vehicle.Current Values#1 Concours --- $28,900#1 #2 Excellent --- $18,400#3 Good --- $9,900#3 vehicles could possess some, but not all of the issues of a #4 vehicle, but they will be balanced by other factors such as a fresh paint job or a new, correct interior where applicable. #3 vehicles drive and run well, but might have some incorrect parts. These vehicles are not used for daily transportation but are ready for a long tour without excuses, and the casual passerby will not find any visual flaws. "Good" is the one word description of a #3 vehicle.#4 Fair --- $5,200#4 vehicles are daily drivers, with flaws visible to the naked eye. The chrome might have pitting or scratches, the windshield might be chipped. Paintwork is imperfect, and perhaps the body has a minor dent. Split seams or a cracked dash, where applicable, might be present. No major parts are missing, but the wheels could differ from the originals, or other non- stock additions might be present. A #4 vehicle can also be a deteriorated restoration. "Fair" is the one word that describes a #4 vehicle.
