Vehicle Detail
Hurts to have to let this one go, however due to current circumstances I must part with the Shoe. Bought this car about 11 years ago in Arizona, and has been a Southwest car for most of it's life from what I've gathered. It spent 9 years with me inland in So. Cal and about the last 2 years in Southern Oregon garaged as well. I haven't seen any other Shoebox Coupes with a chop with these proportions. It's a Hot Rod and Custom all rolled into one. I've tried to keep the car as period looking as possible. You'll definitely stand out in sea of flat black, slant back chopped, 350/350 powered, tail dragging shoeboxes and make friends with the homeless everywhere you go! Was featured in Gasoline Magazine's May/June 2009 issue. BODY: I can not take credit for the chop or paint. From what I've gathered, it seems it was chopped in the 80s or mid 90s at the latest. The lacquer paint still shines however is showing it's signs of age, has "spiderweb" cracking in a couple spots difficult to see in pics. Has all windows, driver's side door glass cracked (pictured). Other body mods: '51 hood (center filled), '54 Pontiac grille, frenched, nosed, decked, shaved to name a few. DRIVETRAIN: All FoMoCo to keep the purists happy. Has a 351 Windsor, that I've upgraded with an Isky 280 cam, lifters and timing chain. Also installed a Proffesional Products intake, and a 650 CFM Holley. Exhales through Fox Body Mustang headers. Has Dynomax race bullet mufflers and cutouts. Transmission is a 3 speed Toploader, newer clutch (Real hot rods have 3 pedals). The rear end is an 8" out of a first gen Mustang with open 2.80 gears and 28 spline axles. ELECTRICAL: 12 volts with a GM alternator. All lights and gauges work although fuel gauge isn't completely accurate in my opinion, reads near empty when there's less than 3 gallons in the tank. SUSPENSION: Front: Lowered about 3" up front by dropping the spring mounts with spacers (pictured). This maintains a stock like ride. Rear: Lowered 2" with STEEL blocks. Stock otherwise. INTERIOR: '58 T-Bird buckets, pearl Cal Custom shift knob, Moon pedal, some gauges and a rare, old, spoked wooden steering wheel with octagon holes I've never seen before, not sure of the brand. Not much else. I intentionally kept it bare bones. I could of added some carpet, door panels and a headliner, but chose not to since I thought it would take away from it's all business look. TIRES/WHEELS: Rear: Brand new Coker L78-15s (tucked very tightly). Front: Not as new Firestone 6.40-15s. Wheels: Chrome steelies with spider caps. IMPERFECTIONS: Front bumper could use a dip in some fresh chrome, and again, paint & body are not perfect but still nice in my opinion considering it's age. Hood latch mechanism is sticky and seems to be a common problems on 49-51 Fords, I keep the hood chained down as an extra precaution. I have tried to describe the car as best as I can, please don't hesitate to ask questions before bidding. If more pics are needed I can send them to you personally or add them here if possible.
