Vehicle Detail

2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Limited - inspected until Summer 2016. Read this whole thing, or do not bid. AS-IS NO WARRANTY, and you must pick up at my location. I cannot ship this, and I will not "deliver" it. You must travel to State College, PA. More details below. This vehicle is being sold AS-IS with absolutely NO warranty, priced accordingly. Read the description below for my own assessment on what it good and bad. Again, no warranty, just my opinion for your information. If you are local, you can make an appointment to take a look at it. Included are 4 Nokian Hakkepelita Winter Tires--Mounted, about 7,000 miles on them--with two full sets of regular, used tires, with various amounts of treadwear to use in the summer. Yes, you get a bunch of tires, and it's ready to go in the snow. The Nokian tires are worth about $800 new, for what it's worth. They have plenty of tread on them (pictured). If you've never heard of Nokian tires, they're great winter tires. Google them and see! This Jeep is in fair condition for its age, and it was my daily driver until a month ago, when I bought a minivan to haul the kids. It has more than 200,000 miles, and this is factored into the price. In my opinion, you may want to rebuild the engine, or you can drive it until it falls apart. It starts and runs well. I trusted it as my daily commuter vehicle. With a vehicle of this age, you should expect some things to be rough. I will tell you what I believe, and you can make your decision. I recommend this vehicle for somebody who is handy and can work on it. It would be perfect for a teenager who doesn't mind getting his hands dirty. Here are the good things: - I kept this maintained for my daily commute, so there are a number of common problems that have been fixed. I have owned this since 2006, when it had 58,000 miles. - Currently inspected until (June 2016, I think...I'll need to double check that!) - Hot/cold blend door was replaced, so the temperature control works from the driver's control. It is no longer "dual zone", but the thermostatic control works. - A/C compressor was replaced about 25,000 miles ago. - Window regulators were replaced on driver's door, front passenger's door and rear driver's side door. This is a common problem in these, but all were recently repaired. - Rear wiper motor was replaced. - Heater core was replaced. This is a VERY common failure, and very expensive, but it's working now, so you do have heat. - Alternator was replaced about 10,000 miles ago. - Exhaust was repaired recently. - Rocker panels were repaired in Summer 2015 for inspection. - Sunroof works with no leaks - Only synthetic oil used in engine since I bought it. - Cruise control works - This does have the "tow package" factory-installed, with hitch and transmission cooler. - Radiator replaced 2014. - QuadraTrac is working (AWD). - All brakes recently replaced, with new rotors on the rear installed Spring 2015, and new rotors up front in Fall 2014. Parking brakes were replaced in Spring 2015. Here are the bad things that I know of...there may be more, but that's for you to decide: - Some rust (pictured) on driver's fender flare. Should be an easy fix. - Driver's seat will need to be replaced. It's patched together right now (pictured). - Steering wheel is ugly (pictured), carpet is worn, but not too bad. - Wiring harness in driver's door should be replaced. It's hacked together right now, but it sometimes causes the turn signal to stick on. - High mileage, 200,000+, so it burns some oil. - Oil pressure sensor needs to be replaced, so gauge will sometimes go to zero, then come back up. I replaced this once, but it's failed again. - Air re-circulation door flap broken, and I just put a coat hanger in to jam it in the recirculate mode. You may want to "un-do" this for the winter, since it sometimes fogs the windows. There is a fix for this that you can DIY through the glove box, without tearing the dash apart, but I never bothered. - Air channels in dash were cut in two when the heater core was replaced, so airflow is something like 80% of what it should be. It didn't bother me. You may wish to replace this. - Vehicle pulls to one side. It did this ever since I bought it, and I never bothered to fix it. You can deal with it like I did, or you may want to get that fixed. - Alloy wheels are losing some of their chrome, and I lost the little caps, as you can see in the pictures. Everything I've listed here is to the best of my knowledge, but I'm not a mechanic by trade, so bid accordingly. On the other hand, you could easily part this out and make a nice profit. Your choice to drive it or otherwise. So that's that. A good car for a handyman, priced accordingly. You'll be ready for the blizzard that's coming with these snow tires! Once the auction ends, you will make a good-faith deposit with PayPal. If you fail to pay fully within 7 days, you forfeit the deposit. Full payment must be made before you pick it up, cash or cashier's check only. NO PAYPAL for the balance on this transaction. You must pick this up in Port Matilda, PA 16870 and we'll get the title transferred in State College, PA. Once you win the auction, it's yours, so bid accordingly. NO WARRANTY AT ALL -- Sold AS-IS.
