Vehicle Detail

1977 MG MIDGET NO RESERVE Thanks for checking out "Oscar" my 1977 MG Midget. I absolutely love these little cars, very fun to drive, they handle awesome, and are just a delight to look at. I have had this one for about a year now and take it out on outings often, but lately he has been sitting on the sides lines next to my Messerschmitt project, and I need to free up so cash, so I am going to find him a new home. I have known this car since around 2007, a neighbor of mine had him, and tinkered with it for the last 8 years. He had his eye on a car that I had for many years, and one day, Doyle (previous retired neighbor) pulled in my driveway, and he wanted to trade me Oscar for the other car, so that is how I got him. This Midget is very solid, NO RUST or rust repairs, original floors, rockers, all look very clean, nice truck area, no signs of any damage, all inner aprons are clean, no accident damage, under hood looks good, bumpers etc. Please check out the photos, Oscar is a solid little car, mechanically he is very sound, runs very good, shifts and brakes great. Give me a call if you want to discuss it more. Thanks, Jason 503-910-2085 Condition: The paint is a very amateur paint job at best, it does have a nice shine to it, but at the end of the day, you may want to paint it again down the road possibly and give it a good restoration, but for now, it looks good, and you can drive it and enjoy, maybe even bring it to a few weekend cruise nights and enjoy yourself. It looks great from 20ft away, under lights you see more flaws. Out in the natural light, or sun, it looks good, you see flaws here and there but looks like a very decent car, most people wouldn't notice, but as you come closer, you will notice things about the paint, lots of sanding scratches, a little wavy down the sides. Originally a light yellow. I would say paint is about 20 years old. These cars are subject to rust back in the day, as you already know if you owned these cars before, and that is what is amazing about this one, no rust, no rust repairs very clean, you are starting out with a very good car structurally. It is very solid, little car check out the photos underneath. The grill and bumpers are in really nice condition. Overall, the car structurally is in pretty good shape. Take a look at the photos and you will get a very good idea of what it is and isn’t. Mechanically it is in pretty good shape, it has a manual choke, you push on it instead of pull, so all the way in is choke etc. Anyways, it starts right up, push on choke at it fires up good. The Engine starts right up, and sounds great. There is normal engine oil residue, but no major oil leaks currently, maybe a drop or 2 when it sits, but pretty minimal. These engines are very good runners, very dependable and have plenty of power. It does not smoke or burn oil, exhaust is clean. The transmission is a standard 4spd manual on the floor. The transmission shifts nice, clutch feels good, no drive line or rear end noise. It shifts nicely, does not pop out of gear, reverse works well. No transmission noise, sounds nice and tight. The rearend, feels good no slop in it or howl. The exhaust is in good shape no holes, but you may want to install muffler, right now it sounds very peppy (which I like, personally) but easy to add if you wanted. The brakes work very good, and do not pull, stops nice and straight. The suspension is all stock and actually drives pretty nice, I was pretty surprised, a set of new shocks would be helpful, down the road, I don't think the suspension has ever been rebuilt, but if feels good going down the road. As you can see from the engine compartment, it is original looking, and very stock besides the common Weber Carb update. Just general maintenance items through the years. Tires are in good shape, a little older but have even wear on them, and about 70% tread. Overall mechanically the Midget seems to be in good shape, obviously will need a little tinkering here and there, but mechanically it is good. Interior is in great shape. The seats are in good shape, seats feel good, they show a little wear, driver seat ha s a small burn mark in it, see close up, I don’t think it is a cigarette burn, just look like something got hot on it. Overall the interior is pretty clean, carpet is in excellent shape. This is something that I for sure would take my wife out on a date in, it is not dirty inside, very clean, for a its age. Very nice looking inside not perfect but very nice for a driver and very comfortable to ride in. Non Smoker, very pleasant. Everything seems to be working inside. The wiper switch is a little sticky, it has 2 speeds, you have to fiddle with it a little bit, the contacts probably need cleaned. The exterior lights all work, back up lights, lic. Plate etc. The Marker lights work when the headlights are on, but if you have them on in just marker light mode, they flicker a little but sometimes work, but mostly don’t, I think something is wrong with switch, because they work when headlights are on. The heater does work, the blower does not blow real hard, not sure if they did from the factory. The glass is in nice shape as well, no cracks, or chips. The door glass rolls down nicely. Overall a great looking interior for a driver. All in all this MG is a great old car but just needs some sorting out I am sure here in there, its British, lol. The top is okay, there is a cut in it on the passenger side under corner window were it has a small patch, to hold water out, the top has shrunk a little bit, so when it is cold out side, it takes a little bit to stretch it to get it all snapped but you can get it latched. It will need a new rubber gasket between the top and the windshield, air goes through it, gasket is missing, I am going to try and find something that will work for time being. Overall the interior is in good shape for a decent driver. The radio, temp guage and horn currently are not working work as well. Overall though a great little car. Oscar was not built to be a show car, though you will be able to show him if you like, it was built to be a nice little driver, paint looks a little nicer in photos, but I tried my best to give you some close ups, out in the bright light, looks pretty good though still. I have been selling classic cars here on eBay since 2003, 12 years now, with around 600 classic cars sold over the internet. What I love about these old cars, is that I get to own some of my favorite cars one at a time, I have turned this passion into a business, but for me it is an awesome time to enjoy the cars themselves. It has been such a joy to do business with people all over the world. I have sold multiple cars to many buyers all over from Europe, Dubai, Australia, Japan, Brazil, just to name a few. It has always been a pleasure, getting to know other car enthusiast all over the Continent, especially some that have become very good friends of mine because of our love for cars. I look forward to doing business here on ebay for many years to come, and look forward to meeting some other like minded classic car nuts like myself. If you would like to call me and talk about the car, that would be great, would love to help you out, if you want to call and talk about cars, it would be my pleasure, I am on the hunt for any Interesting classics, odd ball and unique vehicles. Please, come out and personally take a look at it in person, or send a friend or inspector, or transporter, always better if possible to see it with your own eyes, I am close to major airport, and easy to get to. These are classic vehicles, with lots of history, almost years old, so they are used, not perfect, they don’t have warranties, or guarantees, they are as is, where is, nothing else is promised, I can’t possibly explain every little thing about a vehicle in writing, believe me I've tried, lol, seeing in person is always best, I try to give an good description, and normally over 75 photos at least, so you can get a good gauge of what it is, and isn’t. Look forward to hearing from you, please give me a call, 503-910-2085 – Jason. Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE
