Vehicle Detail

This 1975 Mercedes 300D was my daily driver for two decades, but now it just sits in my garage. It’s time to let someone else enjoy this classic example of German engineering. The car runs and drives beautifully. Tires are nearly new. Brakes are good. Seats and interior are in excellent shape, except that the vinyl on top of the dash is cracked in a couple of places. There are only two negatives worth noting: The body and paint need some work – there is rust behind each wheel well. The air conditioning doesn’t work properly right now, but it worked fine when I was driving it regularly a couple of years ago. It probably just needs a coolant charge, but I can’t guarantee that. I intended to fix this up to new condition and keep it forever, but while working on an old pickup I found that I’m not the greatest at auto restoration. My wife has convinced me that it’s time to let this classic go and move on to other things. I’ll include several repair/maintenance manuals (Chiltons and several from M/Benz), oil filters, and several cans of Freon. The odometer currently reads 272,200. On Dec-30-15 at 20:14:44 PST, seller added the following information: Update: I discovered that the non-operating electrical components were on the same circuit. I removed the fuse and cleaned the contacts. Now the emergency flashers, dome lights and dash clock work properly as they should. The interior is very good and clean, except that on the top of the dash there is one crack, and also the radio speaker grille in the top center of the dash is cracked and warped from exposure to the sun. Seats have no flaws that I can see. Floor carpet is excellent and clean. Roof liner is excellent. Interior doors are excellent except for one very small tear in the vinyl of the right rear door ash tray. It is about 1/4 inch long and can be reglued easily. Except for that, the interior is in excellent condition and doesn't even show much wear. Rear deck is excellent. Glass is excellent all around. Windows all operate properly. Trunk is clean. Automatic door locks are vacuum powered on this car and they all work perfectly except for the left rear door. It has never worked - no doubt either a disconnected vacuum line or a crack in a vacuum line. I've always operated that door lock manually and never bothered to take the door apart and fix the problem. The engine, transmission, brakes, drive line have no issues that I know of. I should mention that this engine has only about 120,000 miles on it. The rest of the drive line is original but has been serviced as needed and I have service records for as long as I have owned the car.
