Having a production run of over 101,000 cars made over the course of seven years between 1955 up until 1962, a fun fact is that only a little over 5800 cars actually stayed in the home market. It's easy to see now why here in America we have made them the icon that they have become. The previous owner purchased this 1958 MGA back in 1984, they kept many documents obtained during their 30 year ownership, including receipts, photographs from when the exterior was repainted and even the newspaper ad from their purchase over 30 years ago. The Orient Red paint is the first thing that grabs your attention; it has a deep shine and is in superb condition. The second attention grabber is the Lucas fog lights, which help add a sporty look to the car. The exterior brightwork is in a very respectable condition, but it does show its age upon close inspection. The interior is a deep tan, if not almost caramel color, which complements the Orient Red paint and is in marvelous shape overall. The side screens are structurally sound. The convertible top itself is in tip-top shape and looks almost brand new. The engine was rebuilt back in 1984 and is still in great shape today and starts up as an MGA should. Along with the rebuild the engine was bored out +. 030". The synchromesh gear between second and third gear is beginning to show some wear, but only on quick downshifts from third to second, the issue doesn't seem to appear in any other situations. The tires are in good shape and have many miles ahead of them; the wheels are in a similar condition. This example is the perfect driver MGA, it's nice enough to turn heads wherever it goes, but not too nice where you won't want to drive it. That's the formula for the perfect car in our book.
