Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Up for auction is what I consider a rare barn find. This beautiful 1980 Jeep CJ7 Laredo package is in near perfect original condition, has a clear title and is turn-key ready for a cross country road trip, to be enjoyed as a daily driver, or enjoyed on Sunday drives. It has the original owner’s manual and both sets of original keys. One set was discovered in a magnetic key-case hidden in the engine compartment, probably placed shortly after purchase. Hagerty’s recently estimated the appraisal value $14900.00 and shows this model appreciating steadily. The Reserve is set below the appraised value. Although not perfect, this Jeep is in fantastic condition. If perfect, it would be worth $22K+. The original, non-smoking owners purchased this at a local Jeep dealership and owned it until August 2015. They kept it in a spotless pole barn, parked on concrete and always kept it covered. With 97,054 original miles, this was their favorite “toy” and only drove it an average of 2770 miles a year! They mostly used it motoring around their family estate but took it for one road trip to Canada. In their later years of ownership, they had it registered and insured as an antique. In 1995 as a surprise birthday gift to her husband, the wife asked the dealership to make the body “perfect as the day they bought it”. The dealership fixed a small section of rust on the driver’s side floor pan and repaired some very minor surface bubbling on the rear fender panels. Once completed, the entire Jeep was repainted the original factory color and the appropriate OEM Laredo decal package was meticulously applied. As you can see in the pictures, the paint and body are near flawless. The paint is still bright with gorgeous metallic highlights. There are a few very minor scrapes and scratches which are shown in the pictures. This Jeep comes with the original hard top with perfectly operating hinges and lock (with incredibly rare optional sunroof that opens and is removable, and a still working dome light), matching hard doors, roll bar, front and rear chrome bumpers, front and rear two-tone seats with carpeted panels, swing away spare tire carrier, tachometer, clock, full factory carpet interior, leather wrapped passenger grab bar, “Laredo” emblem on glove box door. There is also a Cobra 77X CB radio complete with PA mode with an engine compartment mounted speaker. If you have kids, they will love it. NOTE: The hard top has never been removed by the owners from this Jeep and looks brand new. The rear seat belts were unused upon my possession, still folded in the factory black plastic packaging. The body tub is 100% rust free and the frame is 99% rust free. All gauges worked normally, except for the clock, which is typical. The 304 V8 starts easily and quickly regardless of sitting for several days or at temperature. It runs very strong and idles perfectly smooth. The original Motorcraft carburetor was recently cleaned and performs flawlessly, there is no delay in engine response when lightly or heavily throttled. This Jeep will easily drive at 75 MPH with more pedal to go. It drives straight and brakes straight. The 4 speed manual shifts easily and the clutch is mechanically sound. It is adjusted for longer legs for easier , more comfortable shifting/driving. There is a very slight oil leak, my mechanic informed me it is the valve cover gasket, about a $5 part). The 4 wheel drive and hubs all work perfectly. This Jeep has been pristinely maintained with all fluid changes performed as required. It has a newer gas tank, brand new gas line, and recently had a protective undercoat applied for preservation purposes. New shocks were also recently installed. More pictures available upon request.
