Vehicle Detail
For sale: 72 Chevrolet K5 Blazer 4x4 decent running and driving western truck. Originally sold in California and lived most of it's life in the Golden State. From there the truck worked it's way via southern Idaho to the high desert of Montana, land of the sagebrush and prickly pear cactus. It's lived a typical western life of camping and fishing trips, but never lifted, modified or hacked on. Factory equipped with disc brakes, skid plates and positraction. Original wheels and hard to find 4x4 hubcaps. Rig appears to be very original and correct save for period roll bar and push bar that were added when new. Great platform for a restoration, or drive as is for a while. Unique opportunity for a Blazer in decent condition that's still affordable, and in the best original factory color, red. Exterior: Paint appears mostly original, faded and thin in spots. Might buff out with some time and effort. Truck has some of the typical 67-72 rust, but not the sitting-on-the-bottom-of-a-lake rot so often seen on these. Rust appears limited mainly to tailgate and rocker/floor area. There have been previous repairs to passenger rocker and small areas of both front floors. Tailgate needs replaced, thankfully they are common with pickup, just swap over the upper lip molding. Cab mounts are good and don't see anything around window frame. Link to underside pics below. Rear hatch is damaged but looks repairable, see pics. Typical dents and dings from a lifetime of use as shown, including big dent in hood and one behind driver front wheel. Spare tire carrier is mostly missing but I am looking locally and may be able to source one before the truck leaves. Glass is good except windshield which needs replaced, but they are cheap. Just an honest truck with nothing hidden or covered up with bondo or undercoat, what you see is what you get. Interior: Mostly original and usable as is, or restore. Door panels good, steering wheel has a few cracks, dashpad is new. Seats need reupholstery as shown. Floor mats were removed at some point. Original under dash radio speaker still in place! Gauges, speedo, wipers all work. Heater blower motor is missing high speed, probably switch. Headlights work on high beam only, need to clean or replace dimmer switch. Radio is non-op. Mechanical: Original 307 starts and runs out strong with no major issues apparent. No noticeable smoke or noises. Trans shifts fine and I tested 4x4 transfer case and it works well. Truck stops fine but brake light on dash is on. A few typical old 4x4 drips on floor if parked overnight, but nothing serious. Tires are original-type 7.00 - 15 bias, look cool but drive horribly, as all bias tires do. I tried a set of radials off another Blazer I have and ran the truck about 20 miles and it drove fine. Basically a truck you can drive while you fix it up. Pricing/Misc: You are welcome and encouraged to personally inspect the truck prior to bidding. I'm not a dealer, I don't do this for a living, I'm an enthusiast. If you'd like any detailed photos of a specific area of the truck, just ask! I have many photos of it but will be glad to take more if needed. Please ask any questions you like before bidding. You will be answered quickly and honestly. Transport is readily available and probably cheaper than fixing major rot on a Midwest or East Coast truck. Montana title is clear with no liens, in the previous owner's name, ready for you to sign as purchaser. Because the title was lost at one time, there is a surety bond in effect for 3 years. Title is fully transferrable. If you or your state have a problem with a bonded title, please don't bid - I've had no issues, but do your research before bidding. After the sale, I can store the truck outside for up to 30 days free, after that $100 per month storage will be due. Buyer needs to get insurance as soon as truck is paid for as I will cancel mine at that time. Link to more pics including underside, will be adding pics as my internet connection allows: http://s261.photobucket.com/user/burgundyamx/library/71%20K5?sort=3&page=1 Good luck! Please look at all the pictures, and then look at them again. Keep in mind that with all cars and trucks, THEY LOOK BETTER IN PICTURES THAN IN PERSON. This is not a minty creampuff, just a solid truck to drive while you restore and IT IS NOT PERFECT BY ANY MEANS. THANK YOU************** On Nov-28-15 at 14:38:43 PST, seller added the following information: ***************update 11/28 just doing a walk around with a bidder on the phone and noticed there is a small rust spot under lip of roof above windshield on passenger side. Couldn't see it till I looked up under lip with the right light. Added pic to photobucket link. Also there are a few surface rust spots on floor near back seat. THANKS***************
