Vehicle Detail

This is a genuine California Porsche 356B. In dry storage since 1986 in Los Gatos California where it was originally purchased. It now resides at my desert home in LaQuinta CA. All numbers match, engine , trans, panels, I have a recent COA. I still have the original pink square title. Car was originally Aetna Blue and was poorly resprayed Ivory in the 70s. Most of the paint is oxidized to a flat chaulky white with the original Aetna blue showing through. All mechanical work has been completed, engine resealed and adjusted, new brakes, cylinders, hoses, clutch, pressure plate. The car runs great, stops, starts, shifts smooth. As the Porsche had sat for such a long time the gas tank was steamed, new gas lines, carbs rebuilt, all brake components redone. Vin 113223, transmission 40056 , paint code 6003, engine number 603838 The body is extremely nice, pressure washing removed all the dryed out factory undercoat, the entire underside was scraped clean of any tar, grease or old undercoat, back to the original metal. No undercoating was applied only a thin wash of chassis black, I wanted to see all the panels, spot welds and seams that were done at the factory and was not about to hide them with undercoat. They are all visible, Jack points are great and have been used to jack up the car. Longitudinals, floors pans, closing panels are solid, battery box looks to be replaced but a nice job. Inner fenders and door bottoms are fine and rust free. Door, trunk and engine lid gaps are very nice. Chrome is not bad with a few worn spots. Most of the rubber seals are original and brittle. The old ivory respray has faded to flat chalky white with the original Aetna blue showing through. Lots of the original blue is visible in the engine area, trunk, door bottoms and jambs. The interior is mostly original, the carpets look like they have been replaced at some point with original German square weave. Seats slide smooth and still have good support. Gauges all work as does the radio but the speakers are no good. Glass is nice and all original. Doors close with the Porsche click. Interior is not bad for 45 years old but it is just that, old. As the car had sat since 1986 the engine needed to be removed, cleaned and resealed. All new parts came from Stoddard. The engine was found to be in excellent condition with even compression all around. Carburators were rebuilt, all electrics were cleaned as well as the contacts. All lights work. Clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing were replaced as well as resurfacing the flywheel. The transmission shifts smooth all through the gears. Gas tank was sent out to be cleaned and treated, new petcock, rebuilt fuel pump, all fuel lines were cleaned or replaced. All wheel cylinders were replaced with stoddard originals as well as the master cylinder. Car stops straight and quick. Steering and suspension were restored as well. The car tracks straight and has a fine ride. This Porsche is completely gone through mechanically, all that is left would be the paint but this is as far as I wanted to take it. I like the rat look and after attending a few car shows in Southern California and hearing comments like, what is that car a Karman Ghia, or wow it sure needs paint to don't touch a thing it looks great the way it is. The car is available for viewing, contact me through eBay. I have a photoshare with 200 detailed photos of every aspect of the car. Serious bidders contact me for the link. Know what your bidding on, this is a drivable project that has had all the mechanicals completed. I took great care to use all the original parts and hardware when possible, most of the nuts and bolts were cleaned and treated the reinstalled in there original spots. I will ship worldwide, overseas is shipped out of the port of Long Beach California. North America shipping can be quoted from Uship. I am in La Quinta, CA 92253 Please contact me with any questions, I am a long standing member of the PCA and have been involved with older Porsches for 20 years. Bid with confidence.
