No Reserve - Nice 1962 Ford Thunderbird Landau Edition 67k, 390 "z code" V8. Options include unique Thunderbird "Swing-Away" steering wheel, vinyl Landau top, power steering and power brakes. Thunderbirds from this era are steadily climbing in value, especially the 1961 through 1963 body styles. Mechanical: the Bird has always had regular maintenance have been performed on schedule. I was told the motor has about 30k on it, it having been rebuilt by the in the late 90's as well as a transmission rebuild. The AM radio is intermittent and the clock does not work. The gas gauge and horn work, as do the wipers and lights. The car has recently been gone through mechanically and runs and drives well. The swing-away steering wheel works. A common issue with Thunderbirds with the swing-away steering wheel is the shifter needs to be in neutral to start the engine. Ebay sells a kit to repair the neutral safety switch on these cars, it's a fairly simple repair. I would always just start her in neutral. All crank windows work easily. No leaks from anywhere, garage floor always dry when I pull her out. Cosmetic: The car was painted about four years ago, it'a nice and shiny. The body and underside are clean, the car has always been garaged. New carpet in classic "loop" style and the seats were reupholstered when the car was painted. Dash and tops of door panels have some sun cracking but otherwise the interior is complete, including all console parts including compartment doors. The chrome and brightwork are all in good driver shape, some pitting and dulling in spots. I am including brand new NOS vinyl top as well as a headliner, all still boxed up. All floors, trunk and frame are solid, never repaired. Overall she's very straight as you can see in the pix, all the door close easily as well as the trunk and hood. The Bird starts right up even after sitting and the engine has a nice rumble through the dual exhaust. Runs very strong, the 390 V8 is a pleasure on the highway. She idles evenly, temperature needle never varies, shifts smoothly, tracks straight and stops easily. A very dependable Thunderbird that's fun to take to car shows and can be used as a daily driver. I had planned on installing the new vinyl top and headliner but I must sell due to finances. Not a kit, it was factory built by Gazelle in 1988. Built on a Ford platform, it originally had a Ford drivetrain. It now has a professionally installed 1990 Nissan 240sx fuel injected 2.4 overhead cam engine and a 5 speed transmission, under 30k on drivetrain. The ECM (computer that controls the engine) is mounted under the dash and a modern blade fuse box installed under the hood. When the swap was done the engine got a high output electric fuel pump and the cooling system got a heavy duty electric fan. The fuel injected engine always starts right up with the turn of the key, no gas pedal necessary. When Nissan engine was installed it got a new timing belt, new injectors, water pump and valve cover gaskets. When my mechanic first saw the car he was impressed by the level of skill and that went into the engine and transmission swap, as some parts needed fabrication to do it right. Recent work includes complete brake system gone through, suspension (leaf springs, KYB shocks, all bushings, rack and pinion), exhaust, alternator and radiator. I have put considerable time and money into this car, it's a unique little hot rod.
