NOW OFFERING AS A NO RESERVE AUCTION. Previous auction ended in a non-paying bidder from overseas. Please do not bid on this car if you are not a serious buyer. I have started the bid at a point considerably lower than I paid. I am a sincere, private seller and member of the Armed Forces. Trustworthy but cannot afford to take a big loss on it. 1968 Corvette Convertible, race conversion. If you are looking for a completely original 1968 Corvette, this is not the car for you. This car was in the midst of being set up to race when the original owner passed away suddenly. I have owned it for just about a year. Car is completely street legal. The top is new. I replaced the door glass on both sides. Also had a custom grille fabricated for front end. I replaced the racing seats with some beautifully upholstered original style seats in black vinyl. The racing seats were simply too high. The car has less than 5,000 miles on the new motor. - Maco Shark Conversion front Clip, removes pesky original flip up headlights.- Built 383 SBC bored over .60, full roller cam, producing 420 hp. - Competition Cam 280 lift/ 231 duration cam, upgraded pistons and oiling system. - Edelbrock Thunder 650 carburetor- Edelbrock Torker II intake manifold - Flowtech hugger headers and full exhaust system with dual outlet high flow mufflers. 3" exhaust pipe all the way back. Steel exhaust, new.- The transmission is a Muncie M-22 "rock crusher" with Hurst Short throw shifter. - The rear end is a 411 Posi-trac differential. - Voxx Old School wheels - 8" Boss DVD player touch screen This car runs superbly. There are no mechanical issues whatsoever. The paint is in great condition, with a few minor blemishes but nothing requiring immediate attention. The only work currently required is a new set of gauges (tachometer/speedometer) and a wiper system if you plan on driving it in the rain. Original wiper system was vacuum driven and very problematic. I would go with an electric conversion, which are commercially available. While this car has an acceptable interior, nice to haves would include a new center console for a better stereo and new interior carpet as original carpet was taken out and replaced with super-light black coverings to save weight for additional power. Also, it was outfitted with an 8 inch touch screen DVD and speakers placed in the back without boxes. I have turned this on, but never really used it. I prefer to hear the engine. But, again, just cosmetic stuff that isn't required.
