This auction is for an authentic Shay reproduction of the 1929 Model A Convertible Roadster. A brief history....This is a Model A replica that was built in 1980 and was sold exclusively thru Ford dealers. It is titled as a 1980. The mold for the fiberglass body was made directly from an original Model A Roadster, so it's an exact duplicate. The 1979 drivetrain is mounted on a frame to accommodate the body reproduction. The result was a 1979 car that is a perfect illusion of the 1929 Model A Roadster. In 1980 they produced the “Super Deluxe” with more options included. This car is a “Super Deluxe Roadster” with the most options available including front & rumble seat heater, AM-FM stereo radio with cassette player, dual side fender mounted spare tires (left and right), leather covered steering wheel, dual Ah-OOO-Gah horn (left & right), enlarged headlights (original size), stainless steel spoke covers, running board step plates, spare tire covers, stainless steel radiator stone guard, chrome instrument cluster, chrome fold-down windshield frame and stanchions, cigarette lighter, sculpted door inner panel with map pocket and carpeting. The original sales brochure states that these limited edition Golden Anniversary were built to order. Production was limited and less than 2,000 models of this Super Deluxe Model were produced. This vehicle in particular is extremely rare as it only has less than 4,000 original miles on it. This is a 35 year old car with only 3,788 miles on it!! My father purchased it brand new in 1980 from McCarville Ford in Long Island, NY. It was ordered from the Model A & Model T Motor Car Reproduction company in Detroit Michigan. My father was a car collector with numerous classic cars so he drove it MINIMALLY to occasional car shows and pleasure cruises. It is an eye-catcher...always turning heads when it's out. People can't get enough of the classic Ah-OOO-gah horn.The car is in great shape. There are no known problems with the car however the car is a 35 year old car so we are making no representations as to the mechanical condition and it is being sold "as is". I can tell you that the car has been garage kept it's entire life. It has always started right up. It is ALL ORIGINAL. Please look at the photos in detail and use the zoom feature. I am trying to be as honest as possible as to the condition of the car but please keep in mind it is a 35 year old car and everything is basically ALL ORIGINAL including the tires. It is the ORIGINAL paint so it is showing its age when you look up close. The windshield wipers work. Radio including cassette player works great. There is a small crack on the windshield which is shown is one of the photos. The original owners manual (Ford Pinto) is included as well as the manual for the radio. My father had also purchased the Factory Repair Manuals so this will be included with the sale as well. The original sales brochure is also included.
