Vehicle Detail
This is a very nice 1998 XJ8L (long wheelbase). I've owned the car since December, 2013, and driven it regularly since then. The interior is nearly flawless (there is a small red spot on the right rear carpet, on the floor, about the size of a dime), no tears in the leather or damage to seats; no cracks in the dash, etc. There are some of the usual signs of wear for a 17-year-old car, but overall it's in very good condition. The exterior is nice except for minor bug marks above the grill (from previous owner) and small scratches on left rear fender (see photos) caused when the left rear tire shredded a few months ago. When that happened it knocked the bumper cover loose from the bracket; there are no signs of damage to the bumper cover but it needs to be reattached to the bracket (again, please see pictures). The only thing I know that doesn't work is the windshield washer, which is disconnected at the wiper (it probably needs a new attachment). All other options, gauges, etc. work fine: clock, CD player, radio, cassette, all gauges, very cold AC, heat is good, rear defrost, power mirrors, power headrests, power seats, power antenna, etc. The car is very nice and drives beautifully; I would recommend that you could drive it anywhere. It has: new tiresnew batterynew rear shock/strut on both sidesnew front wheel bearingsnew brakes (about 8,000 miles ago) The car was in Pompano Beach, FL for its life until January 2014 when I brought it back with me to Indiana. I've driven it here since then, but as we are below the "snow line" we don't get much winter weather (and therefore very little salt on the roads). I wash it regularly and there is no rust of any kind. I have loved the car and it drives smoothly and quietly. I just have too many cars (including three Jaguars at the moment) and need to make some choices! Please let me know if I can answer anything else about the car.
