Vehicle Detail
Up for grabs is this kickass 1966 F100 that lays frame 1/2" from the pavement. Started with a running driving shortwide pickup that had crunched fender and front bumper. That was enough to justify building a complete custom chassis designed specifically for this truck. Took the body completely off and started with a nice '77 trans am subframe. New bushings and balljoints throughout with coil pockets trimmed and expanded to allow RE7s enough room to operate without any bag to metal contact. No rubbing and no premature bag failure. New shocks relocated and frenched into the subrails make for a very nice functioning and safe front suspension. From there 2x4 10ga square was jig assembled and runs back to a ridiculous C notch created to not only clear the '88 Aerostar axle (3:26 ratio) and 4 link but to also support the entire air system. Notch and rails are made to support the added stress of pulling a trailer if you choose to do so. System is wired using relays and fuses for safety and a remote suspension is operated with a 4 button keychain in addition to the switchbox. As for the body, mostly stock with very little rust. Aforementioned fender and bumper have been replaced with new. Stock painted grill stripped and chrome plated. Glass is good with new weatherstrip around the back glass. 1961-62 gauge cluster restored to original working condition with all lights and switches functioning as they should. Speedo needs a cable I never got around to that. Original seat reupholstered using new foam and shell colored vinyl with a nice black cloth insert. It's like a couch and very comfortable. Metal flake wheel looks kickass on stock column with bullet horn button. That being said the horn doesn't work. Cab still has some rust in the lower rear panels and can be seen in the photos. Floors are very solid and rust free. There had been some bodywork done at some point before I bought the truck... in the driprail and lower door areas. It was holding up and looked good so just massaged and primered over the spots. This is a 50 year old truck on a 5 month old chassis. I've put around 3000 miles on this truck based on fuel receipts since April of this year. Its runs and drives great powered by a 302 / AOD from an '87 Lincoln with a sh**load of miles on it. I cleaned up the motor with some pretty stuff and new carb/intake/waterpump. Truck has a new radiator and runs cool in traffic. Here's what it needs: Trans is feeling a little mushy. Shifts into all gears and runs fine but will need a rebuild at some point. I replaced a worn tailshaft bushing but driveshaft slipyoke is still worn and causes some vibration around 65 mph. Needs some bodywork and paint... tailgate has big ass dent in it. Needs a bed floor. Needs weatherstripping around windshield which I have and is included. Needs window felts. Needs interior finished. Dash has glue residue from original pad which is a nightmare to get off. This is very cool driver and new owner should know that this is a quality build with safety and functionality being first and foremost. I am confident new owner will enjoy this truck as much as I have. That being said I have decided to roll the dice and list with NO RESERVE!!! BID TO WIN!! Please call me with any and all of your questions so that I can cover some things I may have forgotten. I want the winning bidder to be absolutely sure of what they are getting, without surprises. Sale of this F100 is being done "as is" with no warranty expressed or implied. Payment in full required within 7 days of auction end. I reserve the right to end auction early if sale is made locally. Give me a call 806-336-5470 Timmy. Thanks for checking it out! I apologize for the photos... please call or text for better pics. I have the entire build documented.
