1968 Mercury Cougar XR7 Grecian Gold in color with Nugget Gold Leather Interior, Rare high back bucket seats,Nice center console with AM/FM stereo,overhead console, tilt steering. Car has factory 302 2bbl, automatic, power steering power disc brakes, Dealer installed AC, 3.00 gear rear end. So heres the thing on this car, when I got it out of a barn it had 1/2 of the Dan Gurney Special sticker still on the qtr window my daughter scraped it off. It has the the turbine XR7 hubcaps and from what I was told that's all the early DG cars had. This car came with a black vinyl top that has rotted off. The cars starts and runs very well, I put new battery cables and a starter, and solenoid in, It starts and runs although it still has all the original belts, hoses, plug wires etc. I drove it forward and reverse and have got a new fuel pump for it as well as fuel lines. The trans seems fine but I would suggest flushing the brake lines and boiling out the gas tank, the drivetrain seems solid and doesn't smoke while running the car has 75052 miles original, I found receipts from the 80's when it was parked with a few less miles.. The car has a pass rear quarter panel that in the bottom has rust, I found a bunch of old rags and junk stuffed in there, but its not at the pinch weld and not on the inner structure so its a very easy fix. The other side quarter is fine and doesn't look like anyone has ever even moved the factory trunk mat to mess with the sequential turn signal relays. The trunk is spotless and still sports the original spare tire and jack. The body overall is in good shape and has just surface rust from the tarps that covered it. The headlights work and seem to function as well as the rest of the lights. Interior is all there and was just cleaned up, the leather is dry and has pulled apart the stitching, the dash pad is bad as a lot of these are, but the center console gauges and radio all seem in good shape. The woodgrain applique under the dash is coming off, Carpet is ok and the floors are solid. All the wiring looks great and show no signs of rodents or people messing with it. The AC is a dealer installed under the dash unit. All the glass and mirrors are there and in good shape. The door panels are complete and in great shape as well as the rear qtr panels..
