ORIGINAL PAINT: 1989 MERCEDES 560 SL SUMMARY Presented for a lucky new owner is an outstanding candidate for a profitable engine swap restoration: A gorgeous 1989 Mercedes 560 SL finished in red color which is still in the original and beautiful factory paint over a black leather interior. The factory data plate of this Mercedes 560 SL shows a date of manufacture of February 1989. The never been smoked in black leather interior is in excellent original condition with no dash cracks and a well preserved burl wood trim. This rust free California Mercedes Roadster has a broken timing chain tensioner. The motor is the same unit as the sedan and are commonly available. . The car comes with the original factory hardtop in excellent, like new condition. The soft top should be replaced with a newer unit. Quality Haartz German Canvas are available here on eBay for around $500. This Mercedes still features the factory equipped Becker Grand Prix cassette radio. The original factory, SL specific seven inch alloy wheels feature new Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus tires. The chrome is showing wear around the lug nuts on some of the wheels. This Mercedes is being sold with a clear California Title and non-op registration with all California DMV fees paid. The odometer reads 164,609 miles. The odometer stopped working recently, however it is close to the actual mileage. This is confirmed by the AutoCheck report which shows that this Mercedes registered 161,261 miles back in 2013, no odometer issues on record with the AutoCheck report and within the AutoCheck report the odometer clocked about a thousand miles per year for the previous five years. The AutoCheck report also confirms a physical inspection of the Mercedes which shows it to be completely accident free with no trace of any bodywork whatsoever. THE EXTERIOR The body panels, chrome and stainless trim of this 1988 560Sl appear to be in excellent, dry and rust-free condition with no accidents, glossy paint and perfect body panel gaps. The exterior of this Mercedes does have some very, very small imperfections to the paint in the form of a few rare nicks and other light blemishes that might be reasonably expected in any almost 30 year old car. The worst nick (which is only minor) is shown in the photos with a ruler so that you can better gauge the image. The original driver and valet keys come with the car. The tool roll and original manuals are also included with the car. The original SL 7 inch rims have some blemishes and should be professionally refinished. Overall, this Mercedes is in a very well preserved original condition. THE INTERIOR The interior of this Mercedes shows the leather, burl wood trim and carpets to be in very good to excellent overall condition. The seat covers only have one blemish on the driver side bolster as shown in the pictures There is one section of the piping on the arm rest that is also cracked. The dash top is in excellent condition with no cracks or fissures. Switches for electric windows, stereo, blinkers, and lights are all in working order and the Mercedes has a new battery. The headliner for the hardtop is in excellent condition with no rips, tears or marks. The snap on seat hinge plastic covers will need to be replaced. All things considered, this Mercedes still has a beautiful and classic cabin area in an elegant and attractive black color with all major features in working order.
