Up for auction is a 1983 MB 240D I bought a few weeks ago for a good mileage driver. I don't know these cars at all and unfortunately my wife doesn't like the "smelly" diesel and it's too slow, so it's gotta go. The car was from Texas and has no rust. The body just has a few dings and scratches, no dents. The paint is 2 stage with the top coat gone on upper surfaces. The engine starts real easy every time, but it does have blow-by. The car runs good, albeit slow. I drove it on a 100-mile trip and it did well . The man I bought it from told me the transmission had been rebuilt in the last 2 years and the fluid is bright red. Oil pressure pegs the top of the gauge. The interior is nice with a wear hole in the upper driver's seat, the rest of the seats are nice. Carpet is decent with some sun bleaching. The radio is a Sony aftermarket AM FM CD. Power windows, central locking and sunroof work. Brakes are good. Tires are great on rear, fair in front. The following things I noticed are bad: The ignition switch has a push button start, the heater fan doesn't work, the windshield is cracked, AC is functional, but low on freon, both front doors need to be pulled hard to close, the driver's inside door release is droopy, the interior lights do not work, some of the interior plastic trim is heat warped, the fuel reserve light and low brake lining light are on all the time.
