Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my 1991 BMW 318iS non-sunroof (slicktop) I’ve owned this vehicle for over two years and have worked on it slowly, but unfortunately I no longer have the time or the means to finish the vehicle. My loss is your gain. I bought the vehicle in Lexington, KY, a southern vehicle with a good body that sat for a few years. The car had its motor replaced by the previous owner with a lower mileage unit, odometer (non-functioning) says around 183k, the motor has around 140k as an estimate. When I bought the vehicle, it was in relatively good condition. The paint was a bit dull and it needed a detail. There were a few mechanical niggles that needed sorting as well. I polished the paint, bringing the original shine back, I cleaned up some of the interior’s stains, and sorted the mechanicals with new parts: New Febi/Bilstein clutch slave cylinder, New Graf water pump (Metal Impeller), All New Contitech Belts, New Behr Thermostat, New Bosch fuel pump (with modified carrier), Used low mileage OEM Alternator, New KYB Struts/Shocks, Used excellent H&R Sport springs, New Brake Fluid, Coolant Flush, New Coolant, New Kuhmo Ecsta 205/50/15 tires all around, New Battery. I replaced the water pump, the clutch slave cylinder, the alternator, the fuel pump, all of the belts, the thermostat, and the coolant. I also replaced the springs with H&R Sport springs with KYB shocks. The rear shocks were not installed yet, stock shocks are still on the vehicle; they will come in the trunk. I drove it for bit before having to park it again due to bearing noise. The car has been sitting since. The vehicle needs to be finished to be a reliable driver. Starting from the rear, it needs a new hub, for it is bent. Both CV axles have torn boots and either need to be replaced or resealed. The differential is leaking and needs to be sorted. The transmission shifts well, except when engaging fifth; the synchro is wearing and can grind if the revs aren’t matched. Power steering rack is leaking, so the belt to the pump has been removed. Both a refurbished rack and the belt are included in the trunk. The engine runs well when warm, but hesitates to start when cold. Although, it starts right up on very cold nights. I’ve been told it could be the temperature sensor. I believe it has a small vacuum leak as well. The body is in excellent condition. Straight body with excellent paint, numbers matching. Very little rust on the car, none on the frame. The front right fender has some at the bottom and there is a tiny bit under the battery tray but none on the structure. There is a tiny bit near the spare tire well in the trunk, minor surface rust. The car was driven locally on a dealer plate and was parked in my mechanic’s lot about a year ago; he has been looking after the vehicle and will be tending the transfer to the new owner. It has been stored in the lot since then. I did not register the vehicle, as I never finished restoring it; it is an open title notarized and signed out of the previous owner’s possession. The title land bill of sale is in-hand ready for the next owner to register it. The odometer reads 183k but it no longer works and the mileage is more. This is the non-sunroof model. The vehicle is being sold as-is, no warranties expressed or implied. If you have any questions, please ask. I’ve described the vehicle to the best of my knowledge. Thank you.More detailed pictures of the vehicle, the small paint chips, and the undercarriage:
