Vehicle Detail
Cosmetically and mechanically excellent. Extremely fast and exciting to drive! It's hard to imagine so much power coming on so fast! The engine is strong, tight, and sounds great. 70% of clutch life left. I recently invested almost $3,000 in a new Maserati amplifier and five new JBL and Alpine speakers. The car also has only very few miles on new Michelins I put on a couple of months ago. The only known problem is that the convertible top usually has to be operated manually. I bought the car in Florida in December. It was certified by Maserati of West Palm Beach and has a rebuilt convertible top pump. The electric motors that release the rear top compartment work fine. We replaced several microswitches, but the top still does not want to work automatically. My mechanic can't figure it out, we tried swapping pump, door modules, etc., to no avail. He believes there is some gremlin in a computer module. Another computer module issue is that multiple engine warning lights come on at once. The problem may stem from the voltage regulator or alternator, recently the voltmeter has starting showing voltage surges and charging or not charging intermittently. Again, my mechanic cannot find any real problem with the engine of transmission, although the MSP (Maserati Stability Control) may not be active. Maybe your mechanic will be able to trouble shoot some more. I love the car, but I have two Alfa's, another Maserati, an XLR, another car, (and an airplane)...running out of garage space, something has to go. It is a hard choice, but because of these issue I am offering the car for at least $10,000 below what comparable 2005 Spyders are going for. When I bought it, the Carfax report showed history of a fender bender a long time ago, but there is no visible evidence of this. The tan leather interior is beautiful and in excellent condition. A small plastic cache around the CD player in the center console is missing, but this could easily be fabricated out of a small piece of matching leather. Other than the mechanical problem, the top is in good shape. It does have a small tear/worn area on each side where it has rubbed on bows, I think they all develop this problem. The car is located in Baltimore. I only have one key and a photocopy of the owners manual. Feel free to contact me with any questions.
