Vehicle Detail
This truck was owned by an engineer since it was new. Most miles were put on the highway I was told going from his house, near my father by Boston, to his get away property with his family about 300 miles away. There is a stack of receipts from when the truck was new. Recently the batteries were replaced along with the alternator and power steering pump. He said the timing chain should not need any adjusting for at least 150,000 more miles and these engines are about as tough as they come. Three of the tires are good though one is worn on the edge. Seems his grandson learned to back up a trailer with it recently and needs practice going both directions. There are some dents and some rust. The frame is solid and the rust spots can be repaired though I did not need to in order to get it on the road. The truck is not new. Its damn near 15 years old however it rides like it was new. I picked it up when I was moving to tow a uhaul trailer last summer to my new house as their trucks must be pretty expensive for what they rent them for and figured I would keep it through the winter before I purchase some thing new and well, much smaller. The transmission did not hesitate or try shifting on hills. Engines like new and has new synthetic oil which has been run in it since it was new. No leaks. This truck is for the person who needs some thing large and dependable. The only thing it needs, which it does not "need" is a wire that goes to the glow plugs on the drivers side (glow plugs on this side are new). The wire, which costs maybe 12 dollars is frayed going to one of the 8 plugs so the glow plugs only heat 7 of the 8 when starting on cold days. I have done electrical work on some home appliances with luck that is far from good so since it started fine even after sitting for hours at friends in 0 degree weather with no plug available I figured why mess some thing up. Looks like it just unplugs and swaps out though youtube will know for sure. If you live some where in which the winters are super cold there are good and bad about this truck. The only bad is if its zero outside you need to let it warm up for 15 minutes before you drive as with all diesels. The good news is it laughs at any amount of snow and with a big engine means big heat. Its a bit more to drive though its like sitting next to a warm stove with the heater on low. Really the only thing you will go through with this truck and eventually need replacing for sure are the brake pads and the ball joints, both dependant on how you drive. What do you expect this beast is almost 9,000 pounds of muscle and metal. Tow hitch is all yours. Electrical relays all work for towing
