Vehicle Detail
Mechanically, this car is very solid - cruise control most of the way on a recent 600 mile trip, 28-29mpg on the freeway. 5-speed and clutch work smoothly, 4WD is push-button and has rarely been used, as has the sunroof. There is no remote, but the key works the locks fine, and the windows run up and down easily. These are its deficits: -- Major leak in AC - a few seconds of cooling before the pressure drops means the equipment is fine, but it's venting more than any sealant would help. -- Rear door glued shut - a rear-ender left the door unable to latch, so expanding sealant foam was used to keep it in place and prevent drafts. In an emergency, it could be force open, which is why even with the other doors locked, this car cannot be considered "secured"! -- "Push Button" Ignition - the steering lock jammed, and ignition tumbler (replaced several years ago) was inaccessible, so both were removed cave-man style and replaced with 2 button-type circuit breakers for accessory and ignition and a separate starter button to the left. For some reason, this separate button doesn't remind me that I have to also push in the clutch to start... -- Windscreen crack - evolving over a couple years to almost the full width. -- Rear passenger door needs to be opened from the inside - a side-swipe several years ago left only a small dent, but also made it hard for the connecting lever to remain in place - fixed a couple times, then gave up. -- Only one of the 3 brake lights works - all other light function normally. -- Paint on the hood is badly sun-damaged. -- Tires are good but old. Plenty of gas means the buyer can drive it home, or I can get it on a transport. Still driving around town, so mileage may be a little higher.
