This 1965 Volvo 122 4-speed was sold new on The Fourth of July, 1965 from Ed Fawcett Volvo in San Jose, California and has remained in Northern California since. It still wears its original black license plates and is being sold by its third owner. The car received a high quality respray in 2008 and a major service and mechanical refurbishment in 2013 that included rebuilt carbs, new suspension bushings, new shocks, a new fuel tank, and more detailed below. It now presents in excellent condition and won a first in class award at the 2014 Davis West Coast Volvo Club meet. The car was properly prepped for paint with removal of all trim, weatherstripping and glass. Front and rear bumpers are both new OEM style items with very shiny chrome, and all other bright work presents equally well. Also evident in photos is the car’s straight sheet metal, nice panel gaps, and complete trim. The seller says the car has never been hit and that it shows no serious corrosion. The interior looks too nice to be original and was likely re-trimmed by the previous owner. The seller says the only two items he would address if he were keeping the car are a cracked dash pad and removing the aftermarket temp gauge. Otherwise the cabin is very clean with a good headliner and door panels and fully operational gauges and switchgear. Note also the clean paint in the jambs and OEM radio. The car is powered by a B18 4-cylinder with rebuilt SU carburetors paired to non-overdrive 4-speed transmission. It received a major service in 2013 that included a complete tune-up, all new suspension bushings, new shocks, new brakes a new fuel tank, sending unit, fuel pump and new tires. The carbs were rebuilt and the engine bay was completely restored. The seller cannot verify that the shown 97k miles are original, but says the condition of the car seems to support the claim.
