Vehicle Detail
1958 Plymouth Belvedere “Ahead For Keeps” Up for your consideration is this very solid 1958 Plymouth Belvedere Sport Coupe. This Belvedere was manufactured in Los Angeles, it was originally ordered in sunflower yellow with a white top. The car is still equipped with the original 318 V8 engine and 3 speed push-button automatic transmission. This Plymouth was purchased used at some point by a retired Deputy Sheriff who later moved to Michigan approximately 30 years ago. This Belvedere is equipped with the following factory options: full Solex glass, 8 cylinder engine, torqueflite transmission, sport-tone side trim, power steering, locking glovebox, dual post mirrors and day / night mirror. Modern modifications include: American Racing 15’’ wheels, disc front brake conversion with tandem master cylinder, electronic ignition, alternator, custom aluminum radiator, 4 barrel carb, and AM/FM/CD Player. Although I have no way of confirming it, I believe the odometer reading of 38k miles is correct due to the overall condition of the car – there is no wear on the brake pedal! The exterior of the Plymouth is in great overall condition, the common rust areas are solid and show no evidence of repair. The floors and frame are in very good condition unlike many other 57-58 Plymouths. There is some surface rust appearing near the rear wheel wells due to flaking paint. The paint is driver quality at best, it appears that the car was re-sprayed from the upper molding line up at some point as it is glossier than the lower areas (maybe original.) The bumpers are also driver quality and there is some crazing. The stainless / brightwork is in great shape. The original Plymouth hood ornament / trunk letters / Belvedere emblems were removed and the holes were filled but are included with the sale. The interior was reupholstered in a non-factory design but presents very well. The headliner and package tray were also re-covered in the same material. The deluxe steering wheel is like new with no cracking or pitting in the horn ring. The carpet has been replaced with modern cut-pile type carpeting. The lights, horn, and wipers all work. All windows roll up and down easily. Sliding in behind the wheel is truly like stepping back in time. She fires right up after a couple taps of the gas, press the D and take off with the 50’s tunes blaring! This Plymouth runs and drives great, it would be the perfect cruiser or Christine clone candidate. I have been an avid 57-58 Plymouth fan for years and have owned several of them. Forward look era enthusiasts know that these cars are rust prone, but this particular car is the most solid that I have ever owned and you would be very hard pressed to find one in similar condition. I am very confident that an independent inspector would confirm this. The original 14’’ steel wheels, hub caps, stone guards, radiator, emblems, radio, and generator are all included with the car. Please feel free to contact me at 734-634-5405 with any questions. BIDS BY USERS WITH A FEEDBACK SCORE OF 0 WILL BE CANCELED UNTIL I AM CONTACTED. The car is also listed for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early. Deposit due within 24 hours of auction close. Thanks for looking and good luck!
