Vehicle Detail

1971 Porsche 911T NO RESERVE Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Thank you for checking out this 1971 Porsche 911T. This is a fairly original car, Numbers Matching Engine and Transmission, with the Porsche COA. This is a car that you can either go two ways with, get it running again, drive and enjoy it exactly the way it is. It looks great, very nice interior, good solid car, or one might want to do a mild restoration down the road, meaning mostly have it repainted, everything else is pretty nice on the car, interior, undercarriage, trunk area, engine compartment. This was bought by a friend of mine a while back, and he has had it stored at my place with a few other cars. He was planning on getting this car running good again, it had been sitting for some time prior to him getting it, but he recently decided that he is not going to have the time, between work, and other projects. So instead of let it continue to sit, like it has for the last few years, it is time to just sell it, and let the next folks, bring it back to its glory days. Please read the full auction, this Porsche currently not ready for the road, it could be road worthy, brakes work, lights etc, but it is not really running currently. What I mean by that is, it has been sitting for some time, and when he got it, the Carburetors were off of the car needing to be rebuilt. Everything was reinstalled back on it, so it could be determined that it did at least run. And yes, the conclusion was at the very least, that it does indeed need the Carburetors rebuilt, it will fire up, gas is bad, and cold blooded, but you can eventually get it running, not good enough to drive. The carbs snap and crackle, and it will eventually idle somewhat at times, running rich, black exhaust at times, carbs just need a lot of love. The engine does sound good when it smooths out, and sound nice actually. At the least I think with a fuel system flush, proper tune up, carbs all rebuilt and such, it will run pretty well, but until this happen, no one really knows, like any car, you take it step by step. I can get it running good enough to get it on to a transport, meaning that I drive it on a transport, move it forward and backward and get it on the truck. This is a Numbers Matching 1971 911T VIN: 9111112313, 911T engine #6119657 and Sportomatic Gearbox #210447. This Sportomatic, is a 4spd Manual Automatic. When you touch the gear shift, it basically pushes in the Clutch for you, and when you let go of shifter it lets out. Considered an Automatic, but far from it at the same time. They only built 228 Sportomatic 911T US cars for 1971, very rare when it comes to production. I show pictures of the numbers on the engine and transmission, also ordered a copy of the Porsche COA, which shows they do match as well. So this car has plenty of pedigree, when it comes to restoring it down the road if you so choose This car is in very good condition, with very little rust, there are a few small rust bubbles showing on a few panels that are noticeable, see pictures. No signs of any major accidents, and extremely clean inner aprons, wheel tubs, fenders, quarters, and rockers. I pulled the floor carpets, so you could see how clean the floors are, very good shape. This is a very solid 911, better than most projects that I have seen in a while. I consider this car a nice driver (that is when you get it running good again), one that no doubt will need to be repainted one day if you so choose, but you could drive this car and enjoy it very much in its current condition. I have taken over 170+ photos of this car so you can really get a good idea of what this 911 is all about. Please take time to let them load, as they will be very helpful to you. The odometer reads 20,777 miles, I was told it was 120,777 these cars do not have 6 digit odometers like newer cars. The car seems to be low mileage from being around it, especially when you look at the original, engine, interior, and trunk area. I do not have any paperwork to back it up mileage, but the general condition, original engine, original transmission, and especially the original interior, and originality of under the bonnet seem support that this car has low mileage. CONDITION The body on this car is in great shape. Original color is Light Ivory Code 11, with Black Leatherette Code 11. I know that it has at least been painted once, maybe 2 times in its life, no signs of any other colors besides white. The current paint on it is older, and obviously has some issues, with lots of paint chips and very small scratches and some very small blistering. The roof you can see has quite a bit of touch up on it. The body is in very good shape, and I do not see any obvious signs of bondo issues on the car, I can see some areas like the bottom of the door corners, and a little bit in fenders, a little wavy, but you have to look close. There are a few small paint cracks, you can see, bottom of quarter on passenger side, some small cracking in paint, around the passenger side headlight. Until the car was stripped down, to bare metal, you never know what is there for filler, and such. I'm sure there is some filler, but nothing that really stands out which makes me really concerned but I am not a body guy either. When I look up inside the fenders, and inside the quarters, everything looks clean. The paint does hold a gloss. If it were me, I would just polish it, touch up things here and there, get the car running and driving good, and just enjoy, and maybe one day repaint it, but for now it is very presentable. I would say the paint is at least 15-20 years old. Overall, out in the sun, from 10’ away it looks pretty good, but obviously when you get up close, or look at it under lights in the garage, you can see that it is older paint. The drive train as I mentioned before is original to the car, Original Numbers Matching Engine and Transmission. The engine has #6119657 on it, which matches the COA. As I mentioned earlier, the engine is very original, it will run, but it desperately needs to have the carbs rebuilt, it is not really in running order right now until that happens at the least. I will be able to get it started to put on your transport truck when it gets picked up. It may be hard to the truck driver to get it started themselves or possibly yourself when it gets off the truck, due to never starting it before. It is hard to get it started, after it gets a little warm, you can have a little more success with idling, but it snaps and crackles, the carbs just need to be rebuilt is all I can say. I have never driven the car, except to try and move it around. I know that the brakes do work on the car, but at high speeds, unsure obviously what they are like. The Sportomatic, can’t tell you a lot of about, besides that it will shift into gear, when you get the rpm’s up, you can slip it into gear, again, carburetors running good and vacuum are all tied together, but I can get it to shift. As I mentioned earlier though we have never driven the car, because you obviously can’t. I gauges seem to all work. I checked the dash lights, all the exterior lights work, turn signals, horn all work, even the license plate lights and under bonnet lights. The heater fan works, wipers all work. The wheels are original Fuchs, need repainted but overall in good shape. The tires are also in good shape as well, with about 85% tread, they are Dunlop D60 A2 205/60/15 all the way around. It will be nice to see this car back on the road again, for someone to enjoy. I show a battery in the car, but it is not correct for it, these cars have a compartment on each side and you put 2 batteries in it, 2 6V. I don't have the current original type batteries but it can run off a single 12v as well to move it around. I do not have a spare for it, or tool bag. What you see in the pictures is what I have for the car. The interior is very usable and is in really nice condition. The seats are in good shape, nice padding, material is in good shape front and back. Dash area is nice, no cracks, very clean. It has an AM/FM radio, which I believe is a pretty rare option, not many cars during this period, even American had an AM/FM, it currently is not working though. The door panels are in good shape, nice carpet. The Targa top, does fold up, and is original, but needs new material on top, the edges are worn as you can see. Overall the interior is very clean for its age, and you can drive and enjoy it just like it is. Under the car is amazing, no signs of any rust issues, very clean. All the inner structures, and framing is in excellent shape. I show pictures of all the inner wheel tubs, and they look great. Under the bonnet, no accidents, clean. The floor boards, rockers, and all the structural areas are in excellent condition. Inside the wheel tubs, the inner aprons are perfect: no rust, and no signs of any repairs or issues. The underneath and inner structure, as you know, is what really matters on these cars, and this car is amazing.
