This a 1971 Super Beetle Convertible. It comes with a newer 1641 c.c. engine, which is tight and running great. Tranny is strong and smooth, as well as the clutch. The brakes and brake lines have been replaced with disk brake upgrade in the front. It has been professionally lowered in the front and back. Recent upgrades include brand new tires, 145's in the front, 165's in the back, new German made side view mirrors, new door panels, front and back, new stainless steel moldings. I spent over $1,000 in these items alone. All this can be documented. The body is straight, with very minimal work needed; however, the car is obviously in need of a paint job. The car was originally sold in Arizona in 1971, and brought to Northern California in 2002, where it has stayed since. Thus, there is no rust whatsoever in any area of the car. The electrical system works fine, with turn signals, brake lights, headlights, etc. in proper order. The car is complete, with no parts missing, except for an original radio. All window regulators work just fine. I have documentation dating back to 2002 that indicates that the 52,900 miles on the odometer are the original miles. The top is in good condition, with no leaks, except for two small tears, as shown on the pictures, these though, can be repaired. The only reason I am selling this jewel is because I will relocate to San Diego, and I have too many toys to take with me. Unfortunately, this VW can't come along. Not long ago this car was in showroom condition. It was left uncared for for some time, and the paint deteriorated. It shouldn't take much to bring this nice model back to showroom condition again. Either that or make it your daily driver as is. Even in this condition it turns a lot of heads. This is a great deal, probably the engine alone is worth the "Buy it now" price.
