This bus was a labor of love. Less than 8,000 miles on complete rebuilt 2 fuel injected hydraulic valve motor and transmission by local VW shop here in Portland Oregon. I have paper work on the rebuild. Mint interior, all seats have been reupholstered. High end paint job on rust free body. New door and window seals. Only 98k original miles. The van has only been driven sparingly since the restoration. The van has been garaged for a majority of its life. Stored for many years prior to restoration. The bus runs, drives, like new. Paint / Body - New paint on rust free body, battery tray was replaced. New door and window rubber. All glass is in good condition, new windshield. Sought after factory orange color (rare on a Riviera). Bumpers and wheels where sandblasted and painted. No accident history. Body and door gaps perfect. All lenses are in good condition. Spotless under carriage. Factory under coating is in great condition. Floor boards are excellent. Rust free West Coast bus. Pop Top - The pop top is in great condition, The original canvas is in excellent condition. Upper bunk upholstery is all new. Pop top still has original gel coat in excellent condition. Interior - Custom weekender camper interior, no blind spots (from cabinets)!!! This interior is brand new mint condition and had been fully restored. Brand new front seat upholstery, seat padding and matching custom made door panels. The plaid upholstery is factory reproduction Westfalia pattern and color. The rear camping bed/seat and upper bunk pad was completely reupholstered using high quality memory foam padding. The bed is very comfortable to sleep on. All, cabinets are in good condition. Custom bamboo flooring. All dome lights, dash lights, camping lights work. All electrical works perfect. The head liner front and rear is in mint condition. The rear bed is a full size bed. One feature unique to this year of Riviera is that you can fold down one side of the bed so one passenger can be laying down , the other can be in the sitting position. All new custom maid curtains.The table and interior all birch wood panels were all custom made, then stained and 3 coats of clear varnish. Many hours went into the custom finishes on table and interior panels. The van does have a cabinet with a ice box and stove that is removable. The stove is not pictured but in the photo bucket pictures link. Engine & Transmission- This bus has only 98,000 original miles. Rebuilt motor and transmission with less that 8,000 miles with all paperwork. 2 liter fuel injected motor that runs perfect with plenty of power. The 78 fuel injected hydraulic valve motor is considered the best of all air cooled Volkswagens. Mechanically every thing has been gone through on this van. New fuel filter, Pertronix electronic ignition, repacked wheel bearings, plugs, cap rotor, fresh oil change, new clutch pressure plate, throw out bearing, all new fuel and vac lines. New muffler, cold start regulator, new engine seal, battery, new shift bushings and fresh transmission service. (Bus runs, drives, shifts, stops better than new.) The van needs nothing and can drive any where in the USA in comfort, safety, and reliability. Other- New correct load rated light truck tires ($600). Original jack, manuals, newer brakes front and rear. Heavy duty front and rear sway bars and new kyb gas shocks, steering damper and steering box, ball joints make this van drive much better than new. Retractable seat belt up grade up front, 3 seat belts in back. Brand new bug screen and correct green detachable head rests for the front seats and manual are included. ***** The complete suspension was completely over hauled and updated. The end result is a van that rides and handles much better then stock. I am reluctant to sell but I have to many projects that need my attention so this one must go. This is not your average Riviera. The previous owners took really good care of this van over the years. The van has only been driven sparingly since the restoration. This bus has been garaged. The new interior is one of a kind at a cost of over 3k. No accident history. 1979 was the last year of air cooled bay windows. 2 liter fuel injected motor. 1978-79 buses with the 2 liter hydraulic motor are the most sought after bay windows due to the power, modern fuel injection, and economical gas mileage. This is one of the finest bay window campers on the market, a phenomenal investment. Thousands of dollars and hundreds of man hours have been invested in this van. Below is a brief list of recent work done. ***** I have all receipts for work listed below totaling $10,381.00 new upholstery $3000 fuel pump, fuel hose, clamps $366.00 Engine rebuild; oil pressure switch, valve cover gaskets, boden tubes, new valves, guides, ex. valve, cam bearings, gasket set, piston rings, flywheel o ring, pulley seal, plugs, heater cables. Rebuilt heads, line bored and all machine work. The motor was completely rebuilt by local VW shop at a cost of $3,300 front and rear sway bars, new steering box, $896.00 steering damper, engine seal, alignment, remove replace all ball joints, accessory drive belt, vac tube elbow, intake manifold sleeve, ball joints, front and rear gas shocks, idler arm, cv boots, rotors, fuel injector seals, vac lines, engine compartment seal, electronic ignition, battery, brakes. $2,819.00 TOTAL $10,381 in recent mechanical work. All receipts are included.
