Up for auction is one 2000 Volkswagen Cabrio. I picked this up for my son to use to commute to college, but he decided college was not for him. No school = get your own car! Convertible season is here, this is an inexpensive way to get some wind in your hair.The good:Runs & drives well, engine is nice & quiet.Drives really well in the snow! I know, not what you think of with a small convertible, but it was a pleasant surprise not to have to park it all winter.Clean Carfax when I purchased it, so it should still be.Has had the thermostat, cap, rotor, spark plug wires & coil pack replaced about a year ago.New clutch & flywheel were installed last October, as was one of the front axles.Front suspension bushings have also been replaced within the past year.All work was done at a VW specialist shop.Was just inspected in March.The bad:Check engine light is on sometimes for an issue with the air injection system; does not affect inspection or drivability.ABS light usually takes a mile or two to go out, but ABS still works.Shifter is kinda sloppy, doesn't like to shift into second while turning.Needs an antenna, but we never bothered with it, as we just use an iPod.Body does have some rust spots starting. Nothing that is through, but it will need attention eventually.The ugly:The seats. Really ugly. Does not affect the comfort, and easy to fix with new seat covers, but they are ugly.There is a trim piece missing around the steering column. Prior owner tried to fix an issue with the wipers, and the trim got lost. Had my mechanic fix the wiper issue, as well.Did I mention how ugly the seats are? That's all I can think of.
