Vehicle Detail
For sale is a 1971 MG Midget Mk III. It has the original factory-installed 1.3L inline-4 cylinder engine and 4-speed manual transmission. It is a soft-top convertible with leather seats and chrome bumpers / rear rack. The VIN is: GAN5UB104219G and decodes as follows: G for MG, A for A-series-1.3L engine, N for 2-seat roadster, 5 for Mk III body generation, U for USA market / left-hand drive, B for second year of the body style - model year 1971. It is in amazing original condition for this part of the country and has only had 3 or 4 owners in the nearly 45 years since it was manufactured. There are 43,130 original miles on the odometer and the body / engine condition support that. It is used and has been in garage storage since late 1987 / early 1988 - approximately half of its life. The body is in excellent condition with very little surface ONLY rust. The bottoms of the doors and fenders are completely solid. The interior is in excellent condition with the only issues being a small 1/2" tear at the base of the driver's seat and it needs a sun visor retaining clip. The engine runs on carburetor spray / small amount of fuel in the carburetor, but I have not filled the fuel tank with any fuel and run it for extended periods due to storage concerns. The tires have approximately 75 to 90% tread remaining. The brake pedal is soft, so I know it will need brake work (could be as simple bleeding the system or replacing the master cylinder which is $40 from Raybestos and Cardone). I have not seen any leak or drip areas underneath it with full fluids after being in the the same spot for years at a time. I have taken several pictures, including the very small rust areas. If you would like more pictures or of a certain area please contact me and I can add them to the listing or send them to you. All questions are welcome. Thanks for looking. On May-31-15 at 11:55:54 PDT, seller added the following information: ***I wanted to add that the wheels roll freely and easily. The spare wheel and tire matches and is a spoke-rim The top / convertible functions as it should and goes down all the way. The clutch has resistance and the gears go in and out as should. The shifter boot is still intact with the only defect being peeling [NO HOLES] on the right hand [passenger] side. Lastly, the title is clear and out of Illinois [as it has been its whole life]. This hopefully answers some of the questions individuals have been asking.***
