Vehicle Detail
1990 Jaguar XJ6 Sovereign - Savoy Gray Metallic over Savile Gray leather interior. Only 17,490 original miles! This amazing garage find was purchased new on October 19, 1990, and lovingly cared for by the original owners ever since. It's covered only 17k miles in 25 years! This XJ6 was used locally and sparingly, and garaged for the past 25 years in beautiful Short Hills, NJ. The condition is absolutely extraordinary, a complete time capsule! It was never driven in the snow and rarely caught in the rain. No accidents or bodywork ever, and the original trim and leather shows like it did back in 1990. The Savoy Gray Metallic paint job over Savile Gray interior is rare and absolutely stunning! This combination was only used by Jaguar for 2 years - 1990 and 1991. The original pin-striping that was installed by the dealer is still there, along with the dealer installed alarm/keyless-entry system. Features include wood trimming throughout, power everything (windows, locks, mirrors, front seats), power moonroof, am/fm cassette sound system, climate control, automatic transmission with sport mode, automatic seat-belts, ABS, cruise control, trip computer and a leather-wrapped wheel. Jaguar was ahead of it's time with the optional trip computer, it shows the average and instant fuel economy as well as the range in either miles or km. Everything still functions properly with the exception of the A/C and the radio. The A/C blows cool but not ice-cold, and the radio has a mind of it's own. It randomly turns on and off as it pleases, most likely a loose connection. The buttons show almost no wear, and it's obvious from looking at the interior surfaces that this car did not see a lot of use. The inline 6-cyl 4.0L engine starts right up, runs smoothly, and has a great exhaust note from the trumpet style dual chrome exhaust outlets. It just cruises down the highway and gets a TON of looks. It stands out in parking lots and everywhere I stopped with the car someone had a comment about it. I put over 100 miles on the car to make sure it was mechanically sound and roadworthy. The car drives straight with no pulling, the tires are balanced properly, and it handles the way it's supposed to. Glaring down the long hood to the chrome leaping cat at the bottom just puts a smile on your face! In speaking with the original owners, they advised me that the oil was changed once a year, and the battery was replaced a few times over the 25 year stay in their garage. The tires were replaced once, and they are Michelin Energy all-seasons with 90-95% tread remaining. It was started up and driven at least once a month to keep the fluids flowing and battery from dying. The original rear adjustable suspension was removed and it was fitted with regular shocks/struts back in the early 90's when the owner had trouble with it adjusting properly. The original transmission shifts properly in all gears. All lights/blinkers operate as designed. The brakes are in excellent shape and stop properly. All gauges light up and work as they should. The underside of the car is clean and free of any major corrosion. The windshield is free of any significant chips/scratches. Any flaws on the body are pictured below. The sale includes the original owners manual, 3 original Jaguar keys, 2 keyless entry/alarm remotes, and even a TicketMaster panphlet from November of 1990 that was found in the backseat pocket! Who wants tickets to see AC/DC or New Kids on the Block?! I had my detailer leave the "Cornell" and "Stanford" University decals on the rear window as I think it adds to the cars character! This could possibly be the nicest example left of the Sovereign models, and I couldn't find another XJ with mileage this low. Check out the 50 pictures below and I think you'll agree. I've set my reserve to a fair price and I'm open to offers. I'm available by appointment if you'd like to come out and inspect the car. If you have any questions please feel free to ask prior to bidding. The car is being sold AS-IS without any warranties or guarantees. NJ residents are responsible for 7% state sales tax. This Jaguar will qualify for classic car insurance/plates as it's turning 25 years old this fall. You could be the lucky second owner of this beautiful cat! Thanks for looking and good luck bidding! On May-29-15 at 15:59:42 PDT, seller added the following information: *UPDATE* I'm removing the reserve on the Jaguar! The next bid wins the car, thanks for all the interest so far and best of luck bidding! Someone will be enjoying this cat all summer long!
