Vehicle Detail
I bought this car over the winter as a fun little project to work on. Now that the weather has warmed up I have tons of other projects that need to get done (roof on the house, remodeling, etc). I dont really have time and need the money so the car has to go. About the car: Original paint. Originally California car. No major rust and no rust through...only a couple "cancer" spots. Paint is oxydised but could clean up and polish nice. Nice chrome. Very nice rims and almost new tires. Undercoated many years ago and is now starting to flake off. Actual mileage unknown. What I have done over the past few months: Interior: New front and rear seat upholstery. NEW FOAM and WEBBING as well...look and feel like new. Matching arm rest. New carpet. New stereo (pioneer w/bluetooth) and speakers. Engine: Cleaned (ultrasonic clean) and Rebuilt carbs (master rebuild kit). New exhaust rings (fixed exhaust leak). New side "tappet" cover (replaced the old leaky kind). Adjusted valves. New silicone valve cover gasket (replaced the very old cork gasket). What still needs to be done (in my opinion): Interior: Replace door panels with new black ones (currently dark blue). A couple other small panels should also be replaced with matching black (the ones by your feet). Engine: Tune carbs (it runs but it need adjustment). Adjust timing? I started with the valve adjustment and the next thing would be to check advance and then tune carbs. Exhaust mounts mid and rear (currently wired up...not expensive or hard). Replace hood latch pull (already purchased and ready to put on). I just finished putting everything back together after the engine work and only drove around the block. It drives nice and would make a great daily driver for the right person. It is over 40 years old and would require tlc. oh yeah...I also have a 13 inch wood steering wheel (Moto Lita) I bought to replace but didnt get toit. That will go with the car as well as a few extra gaskets and repair manual. I have put a couple thousand $ into improvements and quite a few hours of work. This is a no reserve auction and will sell to highest bidder if no local buyer in 3 days. Car is listed locally and I reserve the right to end the auction if the car sells before auction ends. I would personally value this car at 7,000 but I know you never get what you think. I have added pictures of the work I have done. All is completed except for what I listed above. I will add more pics, so watch this item and come back and view new pics. Glad to answer any questions. On May-25-15 at 19:48:13 PDT, seller added the following information: Finished up a few details on the car this evening and added some pics and will try to add some links to a few videos as well.I put the new hood latch cable in and gave it a quick wash to get the dust off. Did a complete run on the engine from cold start to warm to show what you can expect as far as current running condition. The car starts easily with choke on. Likes to have choke on about 1/4 pull until completely warm. Acceleration is great at higher rpm. Oil pressure and temp all good. After driving about 10 miles I parked the car and set the choke completely off and it idled at 1K rpm.Like I said in the original description, I have not made a single adjustment to the carbs after complete rebuild. I don't know a lot about these carbs and would rather not try to get them tuned.Fun to drive! I will be driving it to work tomorrow just to be able to enjoy it for the next couple days.I will not make any promises as to how the car would do long distance. I would feel comfortable driving it myself, but I would bring tools just in case.Selling AS-IS. I make no guarantees. Again, it is over 40 years old so you should expect to tinker, adjust, maintain and repair as needed. Those are actually speakers. I couldn't find another place to mount the speakers so I made those mounts out of pipe fittings. they could easily be removed or at least painted black to look a little better. They sound good though! Also, the embedded videos don't show up on mobile devices (probably a flash player issue). You can try to search youtube for them. Use tag words Phill mgb gt 73 goshen. If you aren't able to find them, send me a message and I will get you the link...or use a computer to view.On May-26-15 at 05:40:45 PDT, seller added the following information: Sorry about the video links. Everything was working great last night but I think ebay must have removed the embedded content. You can find them on youtube by searching "73 mgb gt phill goshen" or search for my channel "TheCCSTube". Thanks for viewing!! Happy bidding!!!On May-26-15 at 05:48:44 PDT, seller added the following information: Sorry about all the revisions but Youtube doesn't like the spelling of my name "Phill" it tries to correct it to "Phil" and shows no results. Just remove my name from the search and you will find them no problem. So search "73 MGB GT Goshen". It shouldn't be this hard to add video to an ebay listing...argggg!
