Vehicle Detail

For sale is a 1999 Mercedes Benz SLK230. Black. 134,177 miles. Kompressor. Automatic Transmission. Rear Wheel Drive. Engine: 2.3L 2295CC l4 GAS DOHC Supercharged (so fun.) This has been my car for 12 years. Its first years were as a summer only car and about 30,000 miles were put on it. I bought it from a dealer in 2003 and have put the remaining miles on it, driving it year 'round. Average only about 8,375 miles per year total. So it's low mileage for its age. I am selling because my wife surprised me with a new car in December. So this one was not traded in. You can learn a lot from the photos, but I'll give the highlights (good and bad) here for you. Here's some good stuff: Brand new battery. It sat all winter so when Spring arrived I dropped a brand new battery in it.Brand new windshield. I used my insurance to replace the windshield; had some chips and a crack so took care of it. Has all new seals and gaskets and everything Safelite does when they do a job. As of this writing the windshield is three days old.Just had a complete tune up, new air filter, new fuel filter, new Bosch coil, new Bosch spark plugsOil change at 134,001 miles. Automatic retractable hard top is working great. Just had a switch replaced at the dealer and they serviced it while it was there. All the lights and lamps work great. Just replaced one of the head lamp bulbs last fall.Radio and cassette player work great. Although I haven't played a cassette in years. I tested it and it played for a minute or two recently.I never kept service records but all work has been done at the dealer or by an import mechanic specialist. They did some oil changes, but Valvoline did their fair share too. Every 6,000 - 8,000 miles; more recently as it got more miles. Uses synthetic. Security system still works. It is factory-installed.Have all manuals, including for the radio and integrated phone in original leather case. This car is a dream to drive and run around town in. The supercharged engine just gets your heart beating. So quick and fun to drive. Drive train, engine, everything related to making it move works great. Six CD changer in trunk (plays from every slot but sometimes doesn't change well from one to the next and continue to play), heated seats (I'll never own another car in cold weather without these; wonderful!), leather seats (driver's shows some minor cosmetic wear), power windows and locks, an integrated phone (it's never been hooked up, but still cool), and it's also hard wired with Sirius Radio. It's a Clarion tuner mounted to glove box door. It's cleared with Sirius and they're ready for you to take it over. $15/month and really well worth it. Since the car is 16 years old (it was originally purchased by its previous owner on April 10, 1999 at Mercedes of Bedford OH), there are some issues I want you to fully aware of. I have 100% feedback on ebay since 1997. Never a negative feedback in all that time. So i'm disclosing everything I know. Here's what you need to know: Definitely showing some wear to the body. Front fender needs replaced eventually due to rust. It cannot be repaired. I also backed into a truck a few years ago and dented the trunk door. There's some rust at impact point now. Could be repaired I have been told. Also some rust coming around the Mercedes symbol on truck door and a bit around key slot. Various other areas where body needs some work. You can see it in photos. Stone chips and a scuff on hood lid. Scratch by driver's door handle. Some undercarriage wear to the wind flap at the bottom front. It's cracked from not being careful once while parking. Plus around the left front wheel the plastic is broken away. The car needs tires. The photo here shows the worst tire. My tire guy could put four "Starfire" brand tires on for about $400. Or you can go high end with Michelins. Has Kumhos on it now.Air conditioning, which I never really used much, works spotty. Sometimes it blasts cold-cold air. Sometimes just cold. Sometimes just air. Seems random and I do not know why or what's wrong with it.CD changer only plays continuously from CD to CD occasionally. It's a six disc changer and located in the trunk. Some surface wear to glove box door.Cruise control is not working. The wand is very loose in the steering column. My guess is if that were affixed more permanently it'd work. I've never been a big fan of cruise control so never cared.I'm sure I'll think of more as the week wears on and I'll add more info. But anything serious or important is addressed here or I will answer questions and post answers for all to see. I will also take phone calls if you want to talk. Just message me with your phone # and I'll call or ask for mine and you can call me. The photos tell the best story. But nothing is better than putting the automatic top down (folds into the trunk) and cruising around town or on the highway. Such a fun, fast car. I will really miss it, but will be enjoying the 2007 SLK 280 I was surprised with. We also own another Mercedes, a sedan, so are avowed Mercedes fans. You will have to come get this or arrange to pick it up. I will accept cashier's check, cash, or Paypal. I have an "open notary" title ready to go. So it's nice and clear. I am in Canton, Ohio. One hour due south of Cleveland on I-77. I love this car and know it will go to a good home to someone who will enjoy driving it. Email with questions. Thank you for reading.
