Vehicle Detail

This is a 2009 BMWF800GS. If you are looking at this auction you most likely know what this bike is. It has been well taken care of and has been garaged when not on trips. This was my retirement present to myself when I retired from the Marine Corps. 90% of the miles on the bike come from four long road trips. Title is clear. Last serviced in 2012 by the BMW shop in Fredericksburg, VA. In the last year I have put about 50 miles on it. I am selling the bike because I am physically no longer able to ride a bike. I damaged my shoulder in the Service and after 30 minutes of riding on a motorcycle (or mountain bike) my arm goes numb and I no longer can use my hand. General Condition of bike. In my opinion it is very good. All maintenance has been done by BMW with the exception of (tire changes, 1 oil change, and all of the stuff I put on the bike). This is easily verified by taking the VIN into any BMW dealership and they can pull the compete record. All three recalls that occurred for this bike have been done. This would include: something with the steering head, breather canister and tubes replaced, and well as the chain replacement. Again all can be verified with any BMW bike dealership. The only damage notable on bike is BarkBusters covers scratched, small scratch on the right side panel (Pictured), center yoke roundel is clouding. The Jesse Bags are scratched from being taken on and off in a camping environment. The rims are scratched from mounting and dismounting the tires. The other stuff: This bike was the best model available at the time I ordered it. It has the trip computer and ABS. It also has the low seat. I replaced the original tires [at about 5200 miles] with TKC 80s. I put about 1500 miles on them and then put on Michelin Anekees. Before this bike is sold I am going to replace the front tire with a German MEFO tire as the front tire shows age cracks. The rear tire looks like it should. The following are a list of things I have added to the bike Added Parts [That are on bike or have connectors mounted] Custom full size Jesse Bags (Bought straight from the Tucson Factory) Touratech Rear Seat Aluminum Storage deck plate Touratech Aluminum Brake Reservoir guards for both front and rear. Touratech Mirror Extenders BarkBuster Hand Guards BarkBuster Winter hand guards Bark Buster handlebar weights BMW Aluminum Bash Plate SW Moto Engine Guard Bars SW Moto Center Stand SW Moto Folding Highway pegs Adjustable Shortened Brake and Clutch Leavers (They are made in Italy but I forget the brand) Strobel Air Horn CeeBee Headlight polymer covers Touratech Cockpit Plate with extra power outlet Odyssey Extreme Battery Wolfman Adventure Tank bag with rain cover (Missing on plastic fasttek connector) Stuff I have for the bike to provide to the new owner Alaska Sheepskin seat cover Original Plastic BMS Bash plateCTECK Battery tender/charger All the pieces required to transition the BarkBuster hand guard covers One OEM Oil Filter One 15 tooth sprocket BMW F800GS Mechanics Manual on DVD Original Owners Manual (Bent up from being under the seat….but serviceable) BMW EXPLOR Book BMW Foot peg rubber covers Electrical Plug extender Ramline mount for Old IPhone. (Plastic in not very clear any more) Battery Monitor (Never installed in box) European CanBus adapter (Never installed and in box) Chain Brush Small Cargo Net Chain Breaker Tool still in bag Trackside cover (Never used) Slime brand motorcycle compressor (Connector already installed on bike) Tool bag. Contents are a combination of brands of tools to include Craftsman, Kobalt, and Harbor Freight etc. What are the tools? This kit has everything I needed to work on the bike from changing tires to…. you name it. (Torx, Allen wrenches, sockets, driver, pry bars…….) I found the list of tools on an Adventure Motorcycle website and it exactly what a guy has on his bike when he rode to Argentina. One set of TKC 80s with 1500 miles on them. They look ok but they have not been mounted on a rim in over 3 years. Other Stuff. If I had to take an OEM bolt off or any other piece. Example is the engine bars came with their own longer bolts. [ I have those OEM parts in a bag that will be provided. The only thing I currently cannot find is one of the original BMW brake levers. In the end I think I paid about 12,500 for the bike and am offering about 3k worth of add on “stuff”. The bike is used, it is not perfect and I have set the reserve at a fair amount considering what KBB says the bike is worth, what they are selling for as well as a deep discount on all of the added on stuff that comes with the bike. The bike is sold as-is. You can look at my Ebay ratings and even though I do not sell much stuff anymore I think you can figure out I am honest. If you want to test drive the bike that can be arranged If you have questions please ask. The bike MUST be pickup up at my home as there is a ton of stuff that would be difficulty to ship. I will hold the bike for 30 days after the sale (Longer if it is pre-arranged). Final....Final note. I apologize for the pictures. I live in the mid-west and it has been either snowing or raining every time I try and get this add posted. Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE On Apr-26-15 at 06:44:29 PDT, seller added the following information: To answer a question I received. The windscreen is black. I painted it (the BMW windscreen) black as one of the defects with this bike (if you believe the web blogs) is the windscreen acts as a magnifier over the gauges and can melt them as well as cause issues with the electronics by the intense heat. The simple answer is the blacken the plastic windscreen. The OEM one is short and I never found that my vision was impacted by changing from clear to black. On Apr-27-15 at 07:24:47 PDT, seller added the following information: The MEFO tire has been mounted. Between now and Friday I will ride the bike twice for at least 30 miles (total) and check the torque of the axle (30 NM) and the pinch bolts (19 NM). The tire is balanced by "DynaBeads". I have not used conventional wheel weights since the first tire swap over. If you are unfamiliar with DynaBeads please research them. They have distinct advantages as well as a few dis-advantages over conventional wheel weights. Additionally, please remember that this bike is used. Several folks have expressed interest in buying the bike and going on a long trip immediately. I would always recommend having the bike looked at by a BMW dealership before hard riding. I have gone over the bike "tooth to tale" and all appears right. But I am certainly not as savvy as a BMW mechanic. On Apr-28-15 at 09:12:57 PDT, seller added the following information: I have received a question as to the payment for the bike. I will take a personal check or bank check. Payment is to be in full. Either form of payment must clear before hand over of the title, the bike and all of the gear. To give the buyer piece of mind. Prior to making any payment, I will send the buyer a copy of my drivers license and my address. This allows for verification of both myself and where I live by checking local county records which are on line. Additionally, I will send copy of the title and all associated docs. Again, this would be done via email before I would expect any payment to be sent. Any other form of payment schema that a buyer might consider requesting should be put in writing and sent through the Ebay messaging system. As of now I have made no provision in the Auction for deposit.... the requirement unless otherwise worked out is a full payment. Adjunct to this. If you desire the test drive the bike you MUST be a licensed motorcycle rider....or and have the correct endorsement. Also you would need to have your own gear. On May-04-15 at 14:26:03 PDT, seller added the following information: Based on questions I have posted a picture of the new tire if you are unfamiliar with MEFO tread patterns etc. The tire is a multi-surface pattern designed for all types of surfaces and weather.
