Beautiful SoCal Classic Collector's Mercedes 450 SEL looking for a good home. This car has spent all it's life in sunny SoCal. It was purchased new for $14,698 in 1973 by Mickey Knight, a Los Angeles recording engineer. It was inherited by his sister and moved to San Clemente in 1996 with about 110K on the odometer. I purchased it in 2007 and must sell it due to a recent move leaving me with less parking space. I've put only about 5,000 miles over the past 8 years as a weekend driver. It was repainted with a very nice paint job by Ernie Ball, a well known Hollywood custom car painter. It was changed from the original Maya Gold to a more modern MBZ factory gold color. The car is in excellent condition and has only minor cosmetic flaws like a small dashboard crack, small tear in driver's seat, a small paint blister around front windshield, and the rear shelf carpeting is sunbaked. The Driver's Window and Dashboard light don't work. Still has good trend on the Pirelli tires. Has the rare solid polished aluminum wheels. This was the first year for this model and it has less smog equipment than 1974, making it the most fastest and most powerful model year. You can tell, as it still accelerates quickly. A/C blows cold. Recent items rebuilt include transmission, fuel pump, radiator, steering linkage, fuel injection and a new battery a year ago. Last service bill in March was $2200, and I've invested about $4,000 total in service. I have the original invoice and all service records going back to 1992, showing over $30,000 in repairs. This car has been very well maintained!
