1953 chevy 1/2 ton survivor daily driver barn find with video.

This is a true barn find Chevy 1/2 ton truck with mostly original paint that has survived by being stored indoors for over 25 years. It was driven every day prior to being put in storage in central Wisconsin. I bought the truck and brought it home to Iowa to restore. After looking at the originality and the unbelievable petina this truck has, I decided to get it to the point of being a daily driver and sell it to someone who has the option of leaving the cool petina or take it to the next level while enjoying it and painting it. I did a complete tune up (coils, plugs, condensor, fuel pump, points etc and rebuilt the carb and brake master cylinder) the truck stops the way it should. I put a new exahust on it and I changed the coil to 12 volt and bypassed the original 6 volt wire harness and it now has a 12 volt battery in it. (original wire harness looks good and is still connected to headlights, dash etc) If you leave it 12 volt, you would have to change the bulbs to 12 volt bulbs. This truck starts on the first crank. flip the toggle switch to on (bypassed key) Hit the floor starter, and she fires right up.

Cosmetically the truck has a very unique ,vintage ,original look and from what I can see, had very little filler used. I pictured and videoed any cosmetic spots i saw, the places I noticed where no bigger than a softball size (very minor). The driver side kick panel had rust but is covered with a cardboard trim. The floor pans had two golfball size holes roughly that had been patched at one time. The seat is original and all there but should be reupholstered.(has seat covered) The glass is all there but has some cracks (pictured) Jim carter truck has pre cut glass about $30 per a piece. The gas tank should be cleaned or replaced and it is running off aux tank.( Jim Carter truck $165) The windows go up and down and the doors shut the way they should. The passenger side window handle is stripped but the widow does go up and down. The tires look old but do hold air. The box is in great shape and all of the wood is under the steel plate. The tailgate opens and shuts. As the video shows, I drove the truck 50 mph and it steered true, handled great. The 216 engine ran great with no knocks, misses or smoke.

This is truly a truck that has such great petina. It would look great clear coated or left the way it is. Everyone that saw us videoing it and driving it gave us thumbs up and lots of smiles.

This truck comes with a clean and clear title ready to register. The topper and lisence plates do not come with the truck. I do not want to over call this truck or undercall it, this is not a number one truck but a daily driver quality that is a great start that wants a vintage truck.
