I sold my main rider, a 1982 with 20,000 miles, before we moved from Oregon to Arizona in 2009. My plan was to ride this 1982 in Arizona and save the 1981 (with only 3 miles on it) for the future. Physical ailments do not allow me to ride at present, so I am listing this CBX with 2630 miles for sale. It is Titled and Licensed in Oregon.I bought this bike from a seller on the coast in Camarillo, California, which accounts for the corrosion on the valve cover. I was intending to have the valve cover polished and clear-coated. Just to satisfy my own curiosity and make sure the aluminum valve cover wasn’t actually pitted, I cleaned up the right hand side corrosion on the valve cover. I spent only 5 minutes on it with a paper towel and some CLR and you can see it cleaned right up. It wouldn’t take much to make it pristine. The previous owner had sealed the interior of the fuel tank, possibly to prevent any corrosion problems.I had the bike shipped in an enclosed transport to me in Oregon. I took it on a short test hop and all was well. It was then stored inside my heated garage with my other 2 CBXs and 12 other motorcycles comprising my collection. It has always been stored inside both in Oregon and in Arizona. It wasn’t run again until I tried to start it when I got ready to list it here.The motorcycle is as-received from the seller in California aside from new plugs, a new battery, and new fuel line which I installed. It does run, but barely, due to some needle valves not seating (I think). It barely ran at 2500 rpm with fuel pouring out the overflow tubes, so I switched it off.Also included with the bike is the original tool set and rider’s manual for a 1982 CBX.The tires are the original Dunlop Goldseal K127 Rear and F11 Front. They are 33 years old! I do not recommend riding with these tires. Known issues: Fuel leak, weathering, and tires as mentioned above. The photos show 2 small dings in the tank, one on the left front and one on the right rear. The photos also show a small crack in the right hand saddlebag. There is a small crack in the right hand side plate. The photos show the corrosion and a portion I cleaned. I have been over the bike in great detail and there are no other issues known to me.The buyer is responsible for picking it up or having it shipped. We’ll work with the shipping company to ship it. I would much prefer a buyer meet me in person and look the bike over. But if that isn’t possible we will work with whatever shipping arrangements the buyer selects. If you have purchased more than one item from us we are happy to combine shipping to save you money.
