NO RESERVE AUCTION – 1974 CB350F I am selling this motorcycle (Honda 350 four cylinder) for someone and this is the information I have been provided: He purchased this from an individual that had purchased it at an estate sale this summer. There was no title, but the individual that he purchased it from, applied for a lost title in Michigan and there is now a title. When the person purchased the motorcycle from the estate sale, the auctioneer stated that the motorcycle had not been driven since 1976. There was a 1976 license plate (however, the plate was removed upon purchase). So, the bike has been sitting for many years and has rust, pitting on the chrome fenders and other areas. There is rust in the tank. Also, the hydraulics (brakes) have no fluid in them. Additionally, the exhausts have rust through in an area from moisture. I do not know the environment that it sat in for all those years (would have been good information). I have taken many pics, so look at them closely. The bike does have good compression and kicks over freely. It also has the manuals, tool kit, and plastic box with lid for under the seat. The odometer state 2754 miles which I would believe is correct. The grips and foot pegs appear to have had very little use and the stickers are all there. There has been no attempt to start this motorcycle. View the pictures carefully and be sure to ask questions. There is no warranty. There are no returns. The Honda is located in Detroit Metro area and as being sold as is, where is. There is no warranty and no returns. Any shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. A non-refundable $200 deposit through PayPal within 48 hours is required and the remainder in cash at time of pickup. The motorcycle will need to be picked-up within 7 days of purchase unless a prior arrangement is made. Someone will be available to assist in loading. If you have questions, you can call Mike at 248-618-8455 between the hours of 10 am and 5 pm Eastern Time Monday through Saturday. Thanks for looking and have fun bidding. On Jan-28-15 at 16:07:13 PST, seller added the following information: **************************************************************************************************************************************************************An update – I received the following email last night and wanted to post so everyone would be aware:Hi, your pix and description point out many of the defects, so thanks for that. One other item is that the speedo is from a 1975 honda cb360, and therefore inaccurate for this bike. Best of luck, XXXX I did some research on the speedometer that is on the bike and this is what I found. Here is a link to a 1974 CB350F with the exact same speedometer: http://bmwsporttouring.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=669287&page=allHere is another link of a 1974 CB350F that has a little different speedometer (1974 CB360 I believe): http://www.2040motos.com/Honda/CB/1974-honda-cb350-f-in-good-condition-with-original-title-33467/Here is some history on the 1972 – 1974 CB350F: http://www.motorcycleclassics.com/classic-japanese-motorcycles/honda-cb350f-zmwz12jfzbea.aspx?PageId=4In the article, take note of the statement: “Of the 1974 machines, he estimates less than 10,000 were produced.” The sequence on the vin of this Honda is: 12422. This Honda was built late in the 1974 model year. Now that I have seen other 74 Honda CB350Fs with different speedometers, I believe that there was an engineering change to the other speedometers to finish out the production year. Since the CB350F was being discontinued and no longer to be produced in 1975, Honda probably used other inventory (74, 75 CB360) speedometers to avoid purchasing a small quantity of the original CB350F speedometers. Let’s face it, when you ask a supplier to pull the old tooling to build a few more, the cost per piece would be much more than substituting what is already on hand and a direct fit. The supplier would also need additional time to produce the pieces that may not align with the need on the assembly line. If the CB350F would have continued production in 1975, these late 1974 model year build bikes would have probably had the original speedometers as pointed out by the emailer. There are always anomalies. FYI – This was interesting and I never thought I would know this much about a CB350F speedometer. But you will need to make up your own mind about the correctness of the speedometer. I do have a hard time believing that someone would have changed speedometer on this bike or the other two bikes I provided links to. No more questions regarding the speedo please!
