CAR HAS BEEN GARAGE KEPT BUT HAS SEVERAL ISSUES NEEDING TO BE RESOLVED TO MAKE IT PERFECT. IT IS A BEAUTIFUL CAR THAT IS SMOOTH & QUIET WITH UPDATED LATE MODEL MERCEDES 18' WHEELS AND NEW GOODYEAR RADIALS. IT ALSO APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN LOWERED A BIT BECAUSE IT HAS A LOWER WIDER LOOKING STANCE WHEN PARKED BESIDE ANY OTHERS I'VE SEEN. IT HAD TO HAVE BEEN PROFESSIONALLY DONE BECAUSE THE RIDE IS PERFECTLY SMOOTH AND THE 18" WHEELS NEVER RUB IN TURNS, OVER SPEED BUMPS, ECT. THERE ARE MINOR INTERIOR BLEMISHES IN THE LEATHER FROM BELOW AVERAGE WEAR & TEAR. A WEAR SPOT MAKING A HOLE ON THE DRIVER SEAT AND ON THE DROP DOWN CENTER ARM REST (SEE PHOTOS). ALL THE ZEBRAWOOD DASH & DOOR TRIM IS IN GOOD CONDITION EXCEPT FOR TWO SMALL HAIRLINE CRACKS IN THE LACQUER BESIDE THE WINDOW SWITCHES ON THE CENTER CONSOLE(SEE PHOTOS). NO DASH CRACKS OR FADING. I PURCHASED THIS CAR ABOUT FOUR YEARS AGO WITH ABOUT 115K MILES AND IN NEAR NEW CONDITION. THE AIR DID NOT COOL AND IT ENDED UP BEING THE EVAPORATOR CORE IN THE DASH. $2000+ REPAIRED IT AND THE CLIMATE CONTROL/AIR HAS WORKED FLAWLESSLY EVER SINCE. NEW GLOW PLUGS, NEW STARTER, NEW IGNITION SWITCH, & NEW BATTERY AS OF ABOUT SIX MONTHS AGO. THIS WAS DUE TO A BAD IGNITION SWITCH BUT EVERYTHING ELSE GOT REPLACED ALONG THE WAY UNTIL THE MECHANIC FIGURED IT OUT. WHEN I RECENTLY PURCHASED THE NEW TIRES AND WANTED AN ALIGNMENT I WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD BE BEST TO REPLACE SOME OF THE FRONT END BUSHINGS BEFORE I DID IT SO THOSE SHOULD BE UPDATED. THERE IS A TURBO ISSUE AFTER ABOUT TEN MINUTES OF RUNNING DUE TO EITHER A VACUUM LEAK OR ELECTRICAL SENSOR. IT IS THOUGH THE TURBO TURNS OFF AND IT BECOMES SLUGGISH UNTIL THE IGNITION IS TURNED OFF AND IT IS RESTARTED. THEN IT ACCELERATES NORMALLY AND STRONG AS AN OX FOR ABOUT TEN MINUTES OR LESS. THEN THE TURBO DOESN'T SEEM TO ENGAGE. THERE IS NO TURBO NOISE SO THE TURBO IS FINE. CRUISE CONTROL HAS NEVER WORKED SINCE I BOUGHT IT. THE OIL PRESSURE IS NORMAL BUT THE OIL LEVEL LIGHT IS LIT ON THE DASH. I READ IN A MB FORUM THAT A RELAY TURNS THE TURBO OFF WHEN LOW OIL LEVEL IS DETECTED BUT I DON'T KNOW IF THAT IS THE CAUSE OR NOT. THE OIL LEVEL IS NORMAL AND THE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE SHOWS NORMAL STRONG OIL PRESSURE BUT THE LIGHT REMAINS LIT. I WAS TOLD THOSE OPERATE FROM THE SAME SENSOR BUT I DON'T KNOW. A MERCEDES MECHANIC WITH TROUBLE SHOOTING EXPERIENCE CAN PROBABLY WALK RIGHT TO THE PROBLEM BUT THERE ISN'T A GOOD ONE THAT I KNOW OF HERE LOCALLY. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET ANYONE TO TELL ME EXACTLY WHAT THE PROBLEM IS AND I DO NOT WANT TO PAY FOR EXPLORATION AT MERCEDES MECHANIC HOURLY RATES SO I AM SELLING IT AS IS. NO SMOKE AT START UP, REV UP, OR AT FULL ACCELERATION. ENGINE STARTS INSTANTLY IN SUB-FREEZING WEATHER & HAS NEVER OVERHEATED IN OUR DEEP SOUTH HOT SUMMERS. TRANSMISSION SHIFTS SMOOTH WITH NO NOISE, SLIPPING, OR HARD SHIFTS. NEW GOODYEAR RADIALS SIX MONTHS AGO BUT ONE SEEMS LIKE IT IS SLIGHTLY OUT OF BALANCE AT ABOUT 50mph. MISC DOOR DINGS THAT DON'T GO THROUGH THE PAINT BUT ONE DEEP SCRATCH FROM A GROCERY CART ON REAR FENDER & BUMPER COVER THAT HAD TO BE TOUCHED UP. IT WILL NEED REPAIR FROM A BODY SHOP TO BE RESTORED CORRECTLY (SEE PHOTOS), FRONT BUMPER COVER IS CRACKED IN TWO PLACES FROM HITTING AN ARMADILLO BUT IT IS COMPLETE. THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW MAKES A NOISE SO I DON'T LOWER IT AND THE TOP OF THE DOOR PANEL DOES NOT LOOK LIKE IT'S SET IN PLACE CORRECTLY... THAT IS PROBABLY THE ISSUE BUT I DON'T KNOW FOR SURE. THE SUNROOF MOVES VERY SLOWLY IN THE WINTER BUT FINE IN THE SUMMER. IT HASN'T EVER LEAKED BUT THE REAR TILT UP FEATURE DOESN'T WORK. I HAVE DONE MY BEST TO DESCRIBE ALL OF THE ISSUES WITH THIS CAR BECAUSE I FOUND OUT ABOUT THE A/C ISSUE AFTER I PURCHASED IT & WAS EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED. I DON'T WANT TO DO THE SAME TO ANYONE ELSE...WHAT IS STATED IS WHAT I KNOW. I USED THIS CAR FOR WORK SO THE MILEAGE FROM 115K MILES TO THE 177K IT NOW HAS IS 90% HIGHWAY MILES DRIVEN ONLY BY ME. IF AN ISSUE ARRIVED WITH ANYTHING I TOOK CARE OF IT. IT WAS THE MOST DEPENDABLE SOLID CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED. I CHANGED JOBS ABOUT EIGHT MONTHS AGO & NOW HAVE A COMPANY VEHICLE SO IT HAS BEEN SITTING SINCE THEN. THE ISSUE WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH, BATTERY, & STARTER CAME ABOUT WITH IT SITTING PARKED AND BEING STARTED IN THE DRIVEWAY ONCE A WEEK. BASED UPON THAT, MAINTENANCE AND KEEPING IT INSURED IS WASTING MONEY SO I'M REGRETFULLY LETTING IT GO. IT IS ONE OF THE BEST LOOKING W140 S CLASS MERCEDES I'VE SEEN.
